so yes this is where such heavy infantry support/firepower systems will play their role , mixed in the ratio of 1 such system with 2 tanks , will do well to cover up the tanks from the man portables threat .

though i believe progress in APS for tanks might negate it

The development of APS for tanks to me aren't revolutionary(such as when the tank first rumbled into battle) as a couple of countries are already developing or trying to systems able to bypass APS ie Denel dynamics stealth Ingwe missile.

In the 80s FAPLA would had to use infantry as a screen for their tanks.

Another option would be to mount rugged advance sensors on a tank chassis and use it for target identification then engage with indirect fire(mortars preferably). The TOS-1 with a firing range of around 6-8km and putting out massive smoke clouds when firing I believe makes it to juicy not to be engaged.

I rather sit in that Patria container mortar vehicle than it.

i liked the one which could be stuck into trees , walls etc and totally invisible unless ur very close to it and looking for it

good for SF ops too during setting up of ambush or during exfiltration so that one is not caught by surprise etc etc , the feed from these adds to the situational awareness and the point man can control the ops as per the real time observations , significantly cuts down the load on overhead sensors .

info regarding IAF negotiations wrt PAKFA

IAF not happy with PAKFA Stage 1 and PAKFA Stage 2 will require more time to mature.

and IAF technical committee talks of a total of 275+ modifications for FGFA over PAKFA Stage 2 in the file report to truly make it 5th gen as per IAF and the aforesaid modifications is going to cost additional investments which Russia won't share and will be under Indian Customization head from Day 1. this means India will have to spend additional 5+ billion dolllars or more from her pockets on PAKFA to bring it up to her expectations

But bigger challenge is HAL will not get anything above MKI level work for PAKFA Stage 2 to FGFA plan. also certain Key research areas will be outside the scope of India unless India coughs up additional funds.

info regarding kaveri engine and LCA wrt to french involvement

French Safranised Kaveri engine is on track and a report has been submitted of the progress.

also the Dassualt Team and French government has submitted a list of possible systems (like SPECTRA active cancellation system of rafale , RBE2 derived AESA radar etc) which they want to integrate into LCA Mk1A and make it far more potent deriving from Rafale and Mirage experiences and feedback from IAF who had given detailed feedback on M2Ks. Their plan is to make LCA Mk1A far more modular internally and ease of systems integration for a growth potential upside.

plus MII offer has been sweetened in a big way via these integration's and DRAL JV becoming a player in LCA production Ecosystem.

also Rafale Program is further boosted with a hybrid new Engine boost- amalgamation of Kaveri variable cycle with M-88 core to create a family of engines is now official and on black and white. Same size, same core, same modularity and similar tech powering both LCA Mk1A and Rafale India and This engine entirely will also be Made in India.


on the naval requirement of 57 2 engined fighters officially the Rafale M wingtip is now getting tested with a mechanism to disintegrate in 5 minutes and fit into <10m span and re attaching the same in max 15 minutes with another 5 minutes for a full system check. This system is planned for IAC-1 deployment and is part of the offering under "further research point" in naval tender.


on the industrial side The MII plan is further accelerated with French side clearly saying UAE and another order amounting to almost 78 Rafales in total will be supplied via DRAL JV in india when MII factory is up and running as well. These Export Orders and their MRO will be DRAL India only as per French officials. French state visits and Team Dassault will be strong in next 4 months with a emphasis to seal the deal asap on Rafale MII.
In civil side, Falcon Jet production is also given a go ahead to give more value for DRAL India.


u guys might be wondering why Americans Russians Israelis swedes french r offering their technology to India

eg AESA radar which they were loath to share with india few years ago

becz india managed to develop the core technology to start developing her own AESA radar , the guys did their reviews based on espionage etc etc and they did not like what they saw , so the rush to sell their products with TOT

but the point is foreign TOT offers u the 'KNOW HOW' but not the 'KNOW WHY' which is the essence to developing ur technological base and make u independent from foreign countries

for any body to qualify for foreign TOT u need to be in a position where others will consider u fit (read as threat to their future markets ) for such TOT otherwise the best one will get is nut and bolt technology at the expense of billions of dollars and a captive market

this allows for redundancy incase of battle damage or better utilization of resources as per needs
eg.

if a suspected speed boat comes in very close undetected then manual directing of onboard guns will yield better kill results or enable firing of warning shots in visual range

or if the radar clutter is too high and as a result there is difficulty in tracking and locking onto a sea skimming missile , the EOFCS will stand a better chance to pick up the IR /thermal signature of the incoming missile and slave the CIWS Gatling guns onto it as a last ditch attempt .
