He said: “I always say that I reformed the democratic process as President in order to consolidate democracy in Nigeria and the sub-region. I conceded defeat without a fight because I wanted to set a standard for our democracy, going forward.

He has a point, and I thank him for this regardless of everything else I have against him . . . apparently one of the very few things he got right.

This is something African leaders find very hard to do, GEJ set a noble and wonderful example -- a legacy.
