Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has expressed his displeasure on the attitude of Christian leaders to the recent use of Sukuk bonds by the Nigerian government. Osinbajo, on Friday, while speaking at the Greater Nigeria pastors conference organized by Pastors, Wale Adefarasin and Yomi Kasali, also took an opportunity to express his thoughts on the alleged 'Islamization agenda'. He said; "Part of the problem is the failure of Christian leadership to take its rightful place. We focus our minds on something we call the Islamic agenda. We look for it everywhere as if we are looking for demons. But where is the Christian agenda? Are we not entitled to one? We are too divided as Christians to have an agenda. The key to the unity and progress of Nigeria is in the church." The VP also debunked reports of a plan to Islamize Nigeria through the country's membership of the Islamic development bank or Suku bonds. He explained further; “The Sukuk is an Islamic concept, which enables people to have access to credit. It is essentially like a bond. The US, UK, China, South Africa have all used the Sukuk. Once there is money in the market, let us not get sentimental. The most important thing is for us to use those monies well. Some people say there are some hidden things in this arrangement and that one day somebody is going to take us over. Where? How will that happen? These are straightforward financial systems used all over the world. I don’t think it presents any real problem. It is a very progressive financial system.Nigeria became a member of the Islamic Development Bank in 2005 and the first person to sit as director of the bank was Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The second person to sit as a director is the current Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun, and both of them are Christians. So, when people talk about Islamic agenda, sometimes I am lost. The person who brought us into the bank is not a Fulani or Northerner, the person was a Christian, so why are we complaining? Nigeria is the fourth largest shareholder in the Islamic Bank. This wasn’t Buhari’s making. We must have facts before saying things. But above all, we must ask ourselves if being a member of the bank profits us or not." https://politicsngr.com/2017/10/28/islamization-nigeria-osinbajo-lampoons-christian-leaders-sukuk-bonds/ cc: lalasticlala, mynd44

Hello all, please apprais this writeup of mine.. Its one of my pieces on my facebook page... I intend to use it to motivate Africans do great things.... Alright lets go,,, ........ DREAMS A dream is an embodiment of a form of living that comes only to worthy and able hands : show me someone who has a dream and I will show you someone whose challenges are not insummountable. Dreams are not stale hence they excite; they are too alive to visit the dead. Its ingredients are lively, proving dreams are living. There are dreams that stand the test of time but dreams do not always force themselves to be attended to. They fight for long to be recognised but can be easily irritated into surrender in the battle field of the mind, though many times they may arise again. A dream in a man's heart, is like a calling and to every called there is usually a reserved place. Dreams can be disturbing but cannot be wrong. Dreams know the way. Follow them without looking away, in the time of blockages and barriers, you still find a way. Dreams have a belief system, hence they don't wait to be believed in before they infiltrate the mind. With their belief system they scale through to get to your mind and that explains why they believe in the ability of their bearers. Dreams never sleep and would prefer you think about them over your sleep. When You unavoidably fall asleep it would tap you up from your sleep. Dreams don't bother seeing their bearers sweat for their sakes. Dreams are anxious. Dreams are selective for it knows it can only be lived by him or her who harbours it. Dreams are mild but very discomforting - for it is never quiet at what it wants. But when one flows with it, it isn't a hidden fact that it harbours a special comfort - better comfort. A Dream achieved never leaves its achiever the same way : dream didn't choose to be that way, it is born that way. When achieved, there is an unavoided eye-opener that all the unease and rigour a dream brings has been for one purpose : to announce its bearer. Thank you. |
