GavelSlam: The Buhari we thought we were campaigning for to become president and rescue Nigeria from the brink and who claimed that if we do not destroy corruption it will destroy Nigeria, that Buhari is a Ninja-turtle compared to this slow and sluggish tortoise, accommodator and facilitator of corruption. Those who trekked to celebrate his victory did not do so for this rubbish, this aloof and unresponsive presidency. I refuse to accept that this is all we could get from a man who many risked and staked a lot to put into power. He already gave a glimpse of his docile and sluggish approach when he went napping while the APC caucus of the National Assembly were waiting to meet him upon his own invitation, rather than be at the Senate chamber for their swearing in and election of principal officers. A grave mistake that led to Saraki and a bloody PDP Ekweremadu taking leadership from a sleeping party. 6 months to appoint ministers who have only ensured the failure of the government? The Buhari brand is finished. If he has no control or knowledge of happenings in his own government, he should resign and spare us this mockery. 1 Like |

Reference:Yes corruption is still dealing a heavy blow on Nigeria, it's a huge monster that's difficult to demolish. And yeah, corruption is still the biggest problem in Nigeria, corruption is what fuels the bad governance that keeps the country down. |

obailala: So what should happen. Buhari should sack all ministers, jail most of them and he himself resigns for complicity? Then who orwhat will govern this country.... you don't seem to understand that this country cannot be governed without the corrupt. In the first instance can Buhari be president if not the failed system. So the solution is to fix the system and let it resolve cases rather than run around cases like a surgeon with dirty instruments seeking to heal an infected patient. It is the institutiins that matter not the cases or the people involved. If Mr. President is serious and not a beneficiary of corruption he should strip the Minister of Justice the power to prosecute or not to prosecute criminal cases. Let the office of the Public Prosecutor be as independent of the Executive as the Legislature or the Judiciary. Let us the people decide who goes to court and who does not NOT THE PRESIDENT. That is a first important step not these dramatics every week. Institutionalise the fight. As a test case of what I am saying. If you ask the average Nigerian who should go to court over the Maina case and most others even the diehard Buharists will have indicted members of his cabinet including unfortunately the very person who currently decides who goes before a judge, yes Malami himself. So it is the system that Buhari hides behind to keep his thieving friends and associates clean and clear of the law. It is the system that doesn't work and only restructuring can tame corruption not Buhari or any other perceived saint or superman. Let the people decide by the prosecutor they alone appoint. 2 Likes |
