maybe... just maybe... JANES IHS The Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) is retiring its 9K33 Osa (SA-8 ‘Gecko’) mobile surface-to-air missile systems as part of its on-going reorganisation, a Jordanian military source has confirmed to Jane’s . The JAF announced on its website in late September that it was offering 52 Osas for sale. The source said five countries and companies have expressed interest in purchasing the systems, including the Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, and a US company. Both Poland and Ukraine are still Osa operators, but the Czechs retired theirs in 2006. The JAF was considering contracting Belarus to upgrade its Osas, but decided to abandon the modernisation programme as it was unable to find the required money, the source said... |

lionel4power:A combat helicopter having a ferry ranger of 1100km, it's nothing bad. |
| Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by lionel4power(m): 12:42pm On Oct 31, 2017 |
tdayof:ferry range =/= combat radius . Ferry range = size of external fuel tank. . combat radius= internal fuel 1100km isn't that bad but the space should be better utilized for fuel or more avionics... since most times it goes unused. |
| Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by tdayof(m): 2:39pm On Oct 31, 2017 |
lionel4power:You still don't get. What more avionics needs to be added? The aircraft won't probably flu up to 700km at a go why should the space be used for fuel? |

In a move that will help meet delivery deadlines, defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has decided to outsource majority of the production work of Light Combat Aircraft LCA. The move will see private firms make nearly 70% of the aircraft. "Major sub-assemblies such as front fuselage, centre fuselage, rear fuselage, wings et al, have been outsourced to private industry. The orders have been placed and they need about an year to supply these. Soon, nearly 70% will be made by our industry," a senior official part of the LCA project told TOI. About 85 vendors (private firms) will be involved in the production of LCA. Some major players are: Dynamatic Technologies Ltd, Bengaluru (front fuselage); VEM Technologies, Hyderabad (centre fuselage); Alpha Tocol, Bengaluru (rear fuselage); L&T, Coimbatore (wings); while the tail fin and rudder will be supplied by National Aerospace Laboratory and Tata Advanced Materials Ltd.

tdayof: ![]() fortunately almost all enter service ![]() i post drdo systems which r in service or which r under development or which r being conceptualized technology demonstrators r tagged as such from the beginning , meant for developing core competency eg. there was a project for a short range SAM Trishul ,which was cancelled some years ago due to tech difficulties with 3 beam technology , but now it got recycled into QRSAM with latest tech and improvements ending upto into a completely new product ![]() drdo operates under shoestring budget therefor they dont have the luxury of cancelled projects ![]() also too many watch dogs watching them , every year during audit by multiple independent agencies they get their ass chewed ![]() |
