Spylord48:
At least the budget was presented on time this time around.
Let hope there won't be padding both from National assembly and the executive side.
That the legislature will look into the budget and approve it fast.
That money won't be budgeted for forks, knives, spoons, photocopying machine and other frivolities.
That the whole bunk of the money will be for infrastructures upgrade.
And finally, That this project budget will finally turn around the economy and put more smiles on the masses and prove That after all Apc have something to offer even against all odds.
We can't be budgeting trillions of naira year in year out. There need to be a change and I believe the change will come with this budget.
Presenting budget proposal is different from signing it into law and finally implementing it.. National Assembly will still go through it, pad amend it, before passing it into law for Buhari to sign it. The process will still entertaining the 2nd quarter of 2018

same thoughts here. servicing debt for 2trillon is a no no
Celcius:
Hmmmm.... we borrowing 2 trillion and still paying 2 trillion for debt servicing, which is just about the amount for Capital expenditure.
What a circle.

Did I just see 4 trillion non oil revenue?

grin

I will shave my beards and glue them to my balls if they make 2.5 trillion non oil revenue.

Customs Will Make 1.3 trillion last last. FIRS can not make more than 600 billion non oil revenue. NPA will make maybe 350 billion.
What has changed significantly in the non-oil sector?
What have we exchanged in the last fiscal year that submerged oil revenues?
Are we now dependent on internal revenues and taxes for sustainability, development and growth?
Has recurrent expenditure reduced? If so where, how and when?
Is that it?
Take it or leave it, this budget is planned simply with the new hope of rising crude oil values, if not 45% of it will not be implemented.
So much for a deceptive government.
NIGERIA really has got it so bad this time around.

Nigeria is dependent on oil revenue abeg
They want the gullible ones to believe that Buhari' s govt have been able to diversify d economy without doing nothing. All of us know say na wash. Our budget will be financed by oil money because we are still very much dependent on it.

Truth be told, this time they have done well on Capital expenditure. Better than previous administrations. This could also be an indictment on this government. In 2015 GEJ presented about N700bn on Capital and we saw a little infrastructure, even Fashola had to say he worked more roads and even rails than any previous president. With about 2trillion we need to see more.
What was the exchange rate thenhuh

I know some people are already calculating how much they can embezzle from that money which is very sad because that money is just 25 billion US dollars, but Jeff Bezos is worth 94 billion US dollars.

Study it properly, deficit means the excess of expenditure over revenue, it is not that they will borrow 2 trillion, it is to service the already borrowed money

4.17 Trillion naira non oil revenue ? Am I dreaming ?
Re: 2018 Proposed Budget In Summary! by chloride6: 9:00pm On Nov 07, 2017
chivic:
That's a moderate extimate.Because FIRS alone generates more than 4 trillion per year and custom will generate about 1 trillion not to mention other sectors.

Technically we will not have to borrow because even the oil revenue should not be less than 4trillion.considering the current price of crude per barrel.

I think its quite sensible
85 percent of what the FIRS makes is oil revenue. Yes oil revenue you heard right.

All our oil interests in PSC agreements are collected by the NNPC on behalf of the FIRS.

Why bring deficit again?

The FG has set a target of certain percentage of the budget to be capital expenditure. If they want to keep that target, they have to borrow sonce the revenue is still small and recurrent expenditure is still high

So agriculture would fund the budget
........from Audu Ogbeh's rotten yam export.
Maybe they think that agriculture is the same thing as propaganda since we have illiterates running ruining our country.
All Poverty Congress, APC and lies be like Siamese twins 5 & 6.

Revealed: How Buhari Budgeted N39 billion for Propaganda

In a bid to launder his already battered image, President Muhammadu Buhari has allocated a whooping sum of N39 billion in the 2016 budget to the Ministry of Information and Culture, a sum higher than the paltry N29 billion allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture.

This is a direct inverse of the 2015 budget, where Former President Goodluck Jonathan allocated the sum of N23 billion to Ministry of Information and N39 billion to the Agricultural Ministry.

The meager allocation to the Agricultural ministry has left political stakeholders wondering if the present administration aims at diversifying the economy or thriving on propaganda.

Buhari had in August, 2015 stated that Nigerians must stop paying mere lip service to agriculture, as crude oil and gas exports will no longer be sufficient as the country’s major revenue earner.

“It’s time to go back to the land. We must face the reality that the petroleum we had depended on for so long will no longer suffice. We campaigned heavily on agriculture, and we are ready to assist as many want to go into agricultural ventures,’’ Buhari stated.

However investigations by Post Nigeria revealed that Buhari’s words did not match his action following the lean budgetary provision for Agriculture.
