This afternoon, Governor Wike and Rotimi Amaechi’s convoy and security officers clashed in Port Harcourt. Wike has released a statement telling his own side of the story. Read Amaechi’s version of events below..

In a blatant show of naked raw power, Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi this afternoon narrowly escaped being shot by security men attached to the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike. His car wasn’t that lucky though. The car was vandalized with a broken side mirror.

The incident occurred in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, along Trans-Amadi road, Nwaja axis. The Minister had arrived Port Harcourt this afternoon.



Accompanied by cars of many of his supporters, the Minister’s black jeep was intercepted and blocked at the junction by the security Motorcycle Outrider attached to Wike after two cars had passed through. One of the two cars had security men assigned to protect the minister in Port Harcourt. Suddenly, gun-totting security men attached to Wike’s convoy, surrounded the Minister’s car, threatening to shoot him. They hit the car, tried to smash the windscreens, back and side windows and broke a side mirror. All through this attack, Amaechi remained calm, inside the fortified Jeep. While the attacked occurred, Wike remained inside his vehicle.

The Minister eventually passed through after the intervention of the security team on ground to protect him in Port Harcourt. However, when Governor Wike got to the point where the incident occurred after Amaechi’s vehicle had gone by, his security men blocked the road again, dragged out from a vehicle and thoroughly beat up a police man attached to protect Amaechi in Port Harcourt. The Policeman’s riffle was also taken from him.

Wike came out of his car, and with his security team was going from one vehicle to another, of Amaechi supporters, charging at them, harassing and abusing them. Wike’s security men were heard loudly insulting Amaechi and called him all sorts of derogative names.

This is a crass show of high handedness, arbitrary behaviour and abuse of public office by a State governor who has no care for the safety of Rivers people.

I swear, if extra ordinary care is not taken by Amaechi, Wike would kill him before 2019 election.

Wike is a very desperate somebody that can do anything to retain that seat in 2019.

The Killer, and Wicked Wike did in it 2015, killed many souls most especially here in Onelga,Ogba/Egbema/Indoni Local Government.

How come they crossed each other i.e one coming from garison and another from elekahia?
Is it possible that one was ther to counter the other only to shout assassination in the end?

These questions ae pertinent right now.

Now to my experience as a resident of rivers state:
AMAECHI
-when amaechi was gov he moved around with modest convoy and no sirens
-amaechi drove himself most time when he was gov
-amaechi used to ride his power bike to projects sites unannounced
- ameachi ones had his convoy blocked by a police commisioner and he turned back in the end to take another route to his house
-amaechi loccked up the then newly built stadium at the games village to prevent the pdp from using it for campaign when he was gov but, wike supervised the breaking of the keys to the stadium with federal backing.
- ameachi lately, is accompanied by a long convoy as a show of support /solidarity from his supporters
- amaechi is heavily guarded by the military and police whenever he is in rivers state unlike him driving alone sometimes in abj.
- on the road wher the clash took place amaechi did the following;
1.paid compensation to property owners in the trans amadi industrial layout to allow for the expansion of the road from a single lane to 4 lane with layby
2.constructed fortified walls from woji by akpajo bridge to around mothercat junction (about 70% of entire stretch)
3.started one of 2 trans woji bridge (erected all the pillars and lower beams)
4.fully completed the road with round about from woji by RCC office to trans woji bridge
- stared the wanja second bridge


WIKE
1.constructing 2 short bridges at wanja junction (90% complete)-
2. completed the earth part left by amaechi from slaughter to garrison with round about and fully tarred (some areas are yet to be tarred though).
3.working vigorously on the slaughter/trans woji bridges
4. completing the concrete wall from where amaechi left off
5, yet to touch the wanja second bridge started by amaechi

the above is the situation of that particular road. for me both men should take credit for the road.

On the other hand, how was the biker supposed to know that the convoy was Amaechi's?

In fact, hitting down that biker is the height of disrespect to the Governor and the Rivers people in general.

God bless you sir. A governor is like a president in his state. Infact amechi supposed to informed him before coming to his state. Is just like a president visiting another country without informing the host president of that country.

Because he believe he has the backing of Mr president that's why he behaved arrogantly. Were he expecting the governors biker to wait and smile at him? Infact They did not beat them well.

Maybe if you learnt anything from my point, you will realise that you don't just judge a case automatically by assuming Wike's security was right and Amaechi's wrong.
