No one addresses a football player as a ball player.

If u had written football player is that tautology?

You obviously have a severely limited understanding of the language.

a "ball" player could be any of the following: basketball player, netball player, handball player, volleyball player or any other ball player.

Kapish?

@icon8, you need to read more and not be entirely dependent on your mechanical accuracy notes. Sometimes grammar is a matter of feel and style.

And I'm sure Desmond Elliot was making a point about folks using 'Am' instead of the correct 'I'm'.
Obviously.

What are you on about, and which of my comments were you referring to? You should have quoted me, so I can directly address your concern.

@ the bolded, thanks...but I can almost tell you for free that I probably have read more materials in the past decade than you'll ever get to read in your entire lifetime.

Am a film maker is a correct statement as well. Naija peeps like to correct other people even when a correction isn't warranted angry

Granted that the most formal way of writing it should be I'm a film maker (using the shortened form of I am), but the word "am" is becoming acceptable in formal and academic settings these days. So save the correction!

O pari

richard870:
@Op, Kindly help tell him that ''am a film maker'' is absolutely wrong, its 'I'm a film maker'.

Thank you

Lolzz, pls 'am' and 'i'm' arent the same, okay?

That's why Nigerian graduates are usually laughed at in other climes. Bad diction coupled with cocky attitudes

You think you can cover up your stark ignorance and incoherent ranting with an empty bluster? You should be ashamed of yourself because I have starkly exposed your idiocy in the world wide web. You epitomize the dangers of education without knowledge. How can you correct anybody when it is clear your shallowness and incapacity for simple logic would embarrass a five year old?

Your idiotic lack of awareness contributes to what is a severe indictment of the education system in Nigeria. Sadly for you, you lack the humility to admit your cluelessness and seek help. But I am almost certain that you won't be quick enough to jump into the grammar correction bandwagon next time. Anyway, let me break it down to elementary school levels for you (to your level): Next time, do your own research before attempting to correct anybody. Got it

Lolzz...you are such an idiot! So you think this baloney of a write up would make you an inch less hebetudinous. Dude, we arent and can never be in same league cuz you are clearly a modern day grammatical ''caveman'' with a daffy english orientation.

I feel your pain bro, cuz its obvious you had a jarring experience comprehending the very basic of english (distinguishing between 'am' and 'i'm'). Your first three replies clearly showed that, yelling ''slowpoke'' is a catchphrase (lol)

Oga! my eloquence is one with very high semantic concerning the basics of english language and its core, particularly in argumentative context. See my friend, take your time and learn the very basic of english cuz you seem to have minute (oga, no be dat of time o!) understanding of the language.

See, do us both a favour and quit being stupid, ludicrous and uncivilized. I want to believe you are sane and lucid, abeg no prove otherwise (lol)

You should be glad that you had the opportunity to garnish you diction, instead of demonstrating your illogical views here

I sincerely apologize if my grammatical prowess hurt your feelings, peleh.

PS; No more replies for you...wimp!

@Icon79 is just being a dumb ass with little knowledge for vocabulary usage. His ignorance seems to amaze me. 'I'm' is NOT and NEVER the same as 'am'. Ego will never let him quit being an ignoramus. Don't waste your energy on him. His Primary and secondary school teachers did and it never worked. So what difference would it make now? #Slowpoke.
