Ndo. Zaynie has given really good suggestions especially 1 and 2. The creche nanny can stay with her at Mumsi's shop

enque:
I have an issue and can't seem to think of what to do.

My baby's creche will be shutting down for the year on the 18th December to resume 3rd January.
The company I work for doesnt give leave in December and so my next best option to keep her while I work would have been my mum, but my mum is a fashion designer and this is her peak period... She won't really be chanced till after 26th December cos of d workload she has.

What do I do?

Ha! Is this safe? No vex o but I remember reading online when thinking about whether to give my 6month old orange or not that the acidity of oranges may cause them to have rashes and it's better or start when they are 1. That's why i'm kinda skeptical about 3-4 oranges. Please, no offence intended o, just trying to learn.

Give him oranges. U can squeeze for him and let him drink. Like 3-4 oranges

Please for this egg custard, is it the raw yolk you mix with formula and water and then cook?

[quote author=hunniesuzie post=62440975]1. Yes
2. I don't think there's anything wrong with this. I haven't done it before but like Enque said I use it for his soup and purees
3. Yes. You can make egg custard. Mix with formula and water, pour in a mug and cook like moin moin

I think you may have to find another creche that doesnt close for the year or better still hire the nanny at the present creche since Zara has already get used to them(her) for the period.
Also, you may ask for permission to allow you bring her to work( If possible) or if you have any younger ones to bring her along with you and zara to office everyday.( At least there should be library, or Empty office in the office)
You may also check around for everyday drop-in creche, you should be able to find one around your area or office environment.

Mamas please more suggestion!!

For me, i am not a fan of orange so i will wait up till my child reach one before introducing orange simply because of its acidic nature.

Mummy Zaynie's just the real MVP.

It's one thing to be good online and another thing if that goodness is your reality.

Of all the NL personalities I really admire, I never thought this day would come.

It's such an honour.

Keep giving her fluids ..just try even if it's some spoon she can take( not glucose, not lucozade or supposedly energy giving drinks)....were you given zinc tablets/antibiotics too alongside?

Amongst all, keep praying for her quick recovery...

Well done

Akorkor : Happy happy birthday to your best friend...Many more yummylicious birthdays together.

I understand the question. For clarity see recipe

Mix your formula powder with water (or use expressed breastmilk)
Break egg inside the mixed milk
Whisk together, you should have the consistency of moin moin mix
Pour in a ramekin (use a mug if you don't have ramekin)
Place in a pot of water and steam for about 30 mins (like moin moin, check periodically to confirm it's cooked through)

Listeriasis won't come up here because the egg gets cooked

Recipe is on baby centre and other baby sites but you'll see cornflour and sugar in some of them

stephmiracle : this question ehn....my son sucked for 1 year 9 months ( I tried all sorts except this aloe vera ) , when I couldn't take it anymore, I left home for the weekend so he and his dad can have 'boys time' alone and we met ourselves in church on Sunday.

Lemme try this aloe-vera ( to think we have in surplus at my parents' , I only drink and use for my face)cos I need him to stop sucking his thumb.....

Thanks to the mamas' that suggested this.

Oh! Thanks dear, I've never tried this method, I cook my egg first before mixing and doing like normal custard or pap. Please after everything how's it like? Does the egg coagulate since it wasn't cooked first or is the custard like custard or like moi moi? Raw egg yolks or both the white and yolk?

It's supposed to form like moinmoin but it could be a bit watery/soft, depending on how much milk you use. It will still coagulate, the steam cooks it. I used yolk alone when my baby was 6 months, now I use the full egg. Either is fine. Just cook for at least 20 mins so the egg is well done

Don't be angry please. Do you stir while cooking or you just allow it to cook? Put it directly on the gas or pour water inside a pot first, then keep the mixture inside it to cook? Do you serve hot or you allow to cool? Do you mash it before feeding since is like moi moi texture or you feed like that? Does he chew it or swallow it? You know custard is a thickener, and is now combined with milk and full egg and passed through heat for long so that the egg will cook.

Lol. No problem. No stirring, just like moin moin. You can chook fork inside to check. Pour water inside pot, again like moin moin. Cool, my baby doesn't collect hot food. You can mash or just cut small small, moin moin no dey hard like stone nah so e go eventually dissolve. Note that I didn't put custard in it at all. Just formula and egg. It's just called custard

If I remember and laziness no catch me I'll cook it tomorrow am and share pics

Oamronnie you're welcome
