Hi all,Got my ITA last week.
I will like to make some clarification from gurus in the house
1.Do I need to accept the invitation now even if my documents will be ready next week?
2.My spouse is the PA.I am transferring the fund to her account which she intends to put in a fixed deposit account subsequently. Is this arrangement okay or we should leave the fund in her account without fixing?
3.

Hello All, in light of the new policy (see attachment) on withdrawal from Pension funds, hope it will not affect our POF plans?

This is just for Voluntary contributions, this is different from mandatory contributions which is domiciled in your RSA account. most RSA holders don't even do VC anyways. see this link https://www.scribd.com/document/364694258/Legal-Opinion-on-the-Circular-on-Voluntary-Contribution for some insights.

Hello from the other side....

Hello Y'all,

Landed in Toronto yesterday morning,

Went through the whole process within 20mins, these includes going through immigration, customs and waiting times on both queues.

Wasn't asked for POF, only asked how much I was bringing in and some other basic questions for travelers.

I provided an address for my card to be sent to.
That's pretty much it I think.

It's ending in praise....

Hi - see answers below;
1. No - you cannot accept an invitation without all your supporting documents attached to your e-APr. You have 90 days to accept the invitation and I believe this deadline is stated on your ITA letter.
2. Personally I would not put the PoF in a FD account if my documents will be ready in a week and I plan to submit my application asap. The choice is yours.

All the best!

1. If you are sure your documents will be ready next week, then go ahead and accept the invitation. The downside is that the 90 days countdown starts the moment you accept the invitation. I guess that's why Ehrnie said no.

2. If your spouse is accompanying you, you don't have to transfer the money. As long as the money is in either the PA or accompanying person's name, no big deal.

3. I have no idea about PCC in Abuja.

As promised, here is my story:

- IELTS: LRSW 8 8.5 8.5 8 One attempt
- CRS: 413 ITA cut off: 413
- POF: I edited amount Post-ITA to exactly 12,300CAD and did not write LOE. Gift deed was 90% of POF from my uncle. I got the bank reference letter in CIC format from UBA, so I did not attach statements of accounts.
- NOC code: I edited the NOC code post ITA and did not write LOE.
- Employment: I used my NYSC experience from 7 years ago alone. Got a reference letter from ppa and that was all I attached. No complimentary cards or proof of payment. Presently unemployed as well.
- I submitted schedule A upfront as I had 3 US visa denials in the past.
- LOE: I attached LOE in individual placeholders as needed eg LOE for FBI PCC in Police reports, LOE for gift deed in POF etc. Non-specific ones were in LOE placeholder.

Can you have gaps in employment? YES. Can you apply while unemployed? YES. Can you edit NOC and POF post ITA? YES. Can you use a gift deed? YES. Can you use NYSC? YES pls! Was I determined? YES. Was I the most qualified? NO! The Lord looked upon me in His mercy and love and honoured me. I remain forever grateful.
My gratitude goes to Mummyjaygirls, Wura27, 40manlappy, LordSebastian, Cypha8, Temitope06, Java47 and numerous others. Thank you for replying my PMs, sending formats and answering my numerous questions on the forum. Nairaland family is the best!
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. I am glad I took that step.

Please having issue with this pm on nairaland can you share the template with me brownayodele65@yahoo.com thanks

Pls check @Canadianfly's post on Listening techniques for multiple choice questions. I actually tested them in my practice and it worked 100%. It's simply this:
Don't bother checking the options during the recording. The answers in the options are always paraphrased and so won't jump out at u while listening and searching for answers simultaneously. Before u finish processing the answers and decoding the paraphrases, you'll be behind the recording.
Rather, read only the questions, ignoring the options, and jot (very quickly) what the conversation says. During the break to check ur answers or at the 10mins after the recording, go back and compare ur jottings with the paraphrased options given. You'll see the answers staring you in the face without the distraction of the recording.
You'll need to practice this a number of times to master it but trust me, IT WORKS.

I don't know how this method works for you, I have tried it over and over again, I couldn't cope with writing what the speakers were saying and as well listen, as I miss-out the key points in the process of jotting down their words. The best practise that worked for me was read the question carefully and then listen to the reason given, then scan through the answers to see what option matches (either in exact words or paraphrase).

1. Yes and No - Yes, you can accept and start filling all the forms pending when your documents will be ready. And NO, you can wait till your document is ready. It doesn't matter which ever you choose because you have 90 days to accept or decline invitation.

2. If you are an accompanying spouse, you do not need to transfer the money, you can use your own statement and provide a letter stating your spouse has access to the fund. However, if you are not an accompanying spouse, then you can give her the money

You can choose to write your ielts in Canada. And my advice is don't start EE until you're halfway or almost done with your studies. Reason is you'll get more points/scores for Canadian study. Your application will be processed faster amongst other things. But you're on the right track. And yes, your 1 year experience is good when you are ready to use it.

Thank you Canadian Fly. Very sound advice indeed

If you can meet the requirements and score enough points to get ITA, I'd say you go for it. In the end, it'll also greatly reduce the cost of your education in Canada. Look at the requirements, write your IELTS and go for it.

Thank you Cochtrane. I'll go ahead and write my IELTS, but would wait till the start of my second semester like canadian fly advised to apply to help boost my CRS score

On your response about the POF saved in FD are you saying the person should not do that? I ask because the best advice when saving for this process is to put the monies either in Tbills or Fixed Deposit so that the money doesn't sit and be collecting dust in your account while your bank takes charges on it.

I hope i dont don't get your statement wrong

Good morning everybody. I am a newbie and silent reader on this page. Please I need your advice. About registering for wes but when we(hubby n i) got to the payment option, we saw payment s through 3 diff forms:
1. Credit card
2. Cheque or money order
3. Western union

The question now is how can we make the payment to wes from Nigeria using regular debit card ( gtb naira mastercard to be precise).

So we just saved and exit.

N.B. I have searched the page thoroughly for any info concering this but no luck.

It works mainly for when you have the questions printed on paper, not doing it from the computer screen. That's how it is in real test anyway. By jotting I didn't mean word for word, you can't cope with the speed. I meant jotting key points, relating to the question you're looking to answer, on the question paper, close to the question. It'll be more like taking the minutes of a speech. Usually in such questions, the speaker would likely touch on all the options given just to throw you off but he will always only affirm one (directly or indirectly).
It takes a little speed in writing and several times of practice to master.
Once you get hold of it, even if all 40 questions were to be MCQs, you'll still score very high if not all.
