Living Faith Church bought 24 Villages to house the ongoing Canaancity Project which would serve as residence for Church members in 15,000 buildings. The Church would also construct a Four way express from Lafenwa to Ayobo to ease the traffic for people going to and from Canaancity.

Funding model: The Church buys the land, lays the pipes, Construct the Roads and parks, build the Health Center, Secondary School etc The Houses would be Constructed by the Construction Consortium with their own Money. Interested members pays the Church, Church holds the money and give to the Construction agencies as they deliver on the construction.

The new 8,000 hectares of land acquired by him to build his proposed Africa’s biggest housing estate in Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun State were from villagers.

The hectares of land were acquired from villages in Iyesi, Ijeba, Osuke, Faru, Olukowonjo, Idimu, Okomi, Ibeju, Lemomu, Atan, Igbesa, Lusada, Ewutagbe, Imuta, Batera, Tatowu, Ikogbo, Imoshe, Igbo-Ota and stretches to Lafenwa and Olugbodo.

Furthermore, our source also squealed that part of the reasons Oyedepo acquired some of the land from villages that link Lafenwa to Ayobo is to construct a highway that will be a four-lane express.

This, we learnt, will ease the heavy traffic they always encounter when coming to Canaanland to worship.

On Sunday, February 6, 2011, one of the representatives of Idimu village, Mr. Segun Oke, confirmed the land acquisition. “Yes, it is true that Bishop David Oyedepo acquired hectares of land from about 24 villages to build Canaan City. The lands are actually more than 8,000 hectares, because in some of the villages, he got more than a thousand hectares. Our own clan is Idimu and I can tell you categorically that he got the land at the rate of --- --- per acre. The family heads were Ikibawo and Ileshe. We were all paid with Intercontinental Bank cheques. I can tell you that he is also constructing a four-lane expressway that will link Canaanland to Ayobo, Lagos. As regards where the land owners have relocated, Ado-Ode/Ota has an expanse of land and the villagers still have spare lands around the village.”

Bishop David Oyedepo is currently building Africa’s biggest housing estate in Ota, Ogun State known as Canaan City.

The architect turned preacher of the Word acquired about 8,000 hectares of land for the project. The land has already been fenced. That alone cost tge church 1 billion naira, as its perimeter length is about 400km.

The houses are of six types and range from 3-bedroom flats of N4.9 million, duplex of N37.13m, semi-detached duplex of N24.2m, terrace house of N15.41m, high cost apartment of N24.62m, medium cost apartment of N8.22m to executive villas of N45.5 million. Other facilities inside the Canaan City would include a police station, banks, shopping centres, parks, swimming pools for each block and flats and villas, plus Covenant University Teaching Hospital. The record breaking 15,000 housing units will be handled by a Consortium of 10 Indigenous and Foreign Construction agencies.

The first set of units are already being completed.

Poly you had to quote all that just to say this!

I see someone asking that Churches be taxed since they have plenty money. See you've gotten it all wrong, you can't tax churches successfully unless they agree to it. Living Faith UK remits nearly about 1 million pounds to Naija HQ I think every month out of 4 million pounds they receive-even UK govt must be alarmed lol

If you move to try and tax most of these churches they could move HQ to USA where Churches are tax exempted by law. And you would lose all the inflow of Cash coming towards churches like LFC, RCCG, Christ embassy in Nigeria. Do you know what that would do to the Nigerian economy if for example that about 1 million pounds from UK and others like UAE, US and over 60 countries are diverted to another Country or if the church moves her money from Nigerian banks to foreign ones. Some banks would just crash! RCCG has over 700 branches in UK and I am sure some of that money branches Nigeria too and that is why you would discover that the Nigerian recession did not affect these following churches LFC,RCCG, MFM, Deeperlife, Christ embassy because money is coming in different currencies from multiple countries at the same time. Same with Catholic Churches too they make so much money from US branches that it essentially pays the bill.

Just compare the Loyola Jesuit College built by New York Catholic faithfuls in Abuja to Catholic Universities like Veritas then you would understand that the real wealth lies in Western nations.

Living faith 2010 expenditure is three times the 2016 Igr of the entire South East, more than twice that of Ogun(I got this by multiplying LFC's monthly Tithe to RCCG, which is 1.5 billion x 12 x 10) but there is nothing you can do about it.

The financial strength of these Churches aren't from Nigerian Tithes and Offerings but their many branches in UK, Qatar, USA, Netherlands etc.. That is where the real cash comes from. So if you want to tax them you would need to persuade them to pay voluntarily. Don't even get me started with RCCG's wealth. By the way LFC still has over 16,000 employees so mehn these are Nation Churches!
They've been growing intensively internationally!

Though Oyedepo says he is open to taxation as long as Mosques are taxed too. But we Christians shall never agree to it because taxation could easily kill off many Orthodox Churches.

Nigerians should look on the big bright side of this. According to BBC, Ota alone records 1 million dollars in transaction every Sunday due to LFC worshippers thronging Canaanland. What about the Universities? There is much foreign church money in it so in many ways the Churches are developing the Country

Lastly this project has nothing to do with Churches trying to save face from freeze lol. The permission to commence the Lafenwa - Ayobo road was granted in 2014 by Ogun Govt.

Where does this Winners Chapel get all these their money from. Even Redeemed and Catholic Church are not as rich as them. How can a church have 4 private jets, several Universities and all their buildings are massive. Now they are building a 15,000 unit estate. Thats like four times the number of houses in Festac. Is it a Church or an incorporation. I was once visited Covenant Univeristy with a neighbour and believe you me even OAU is not as beautiful and well organised as that school.
Where are our tax masters, isnt it time to start taxing these big corporations that masqurade as churches?

How is it the Most expensive Housing Estate. Lol it is between 4-45 million na. Any which way Construction agencies must collect their own money. The Church has done well buying the lands...
who are these "construction agencies"?

Its probably only for church members.
Cell members are those who go for home fellowships. That's how they know their real members, and not just visitors to their church.
Cell units are fellowship centers in peoples homes that live around there. You are known by your neighbors who are also members of the church, they can vouch for you and know you've not been beating your wife or causing trouble around the streets. In short, everyone is their brother's keeper.
If you have a need, you dont take it to the church but you go through your cell leader, if the members in your unit cannot help much, your case can be escalated to the church by your unit leader.
Before you ask, im not a cell member but i understamd how things work generally .

I'd guess it's only open to members who are up to date on tithe payments. Rccg also have something similar.

Smart guy.

1. He buys Virgin land from the villagers and they give him customary ownership which is forever.

2.He then resells to his members at subleases which last a max of 99 Years.

3.Members buy thinking they've bought land.

4.98 years from now, members grandchildren are begging Oyedepo's grandchildren to renew the subleases.

5.Oyedepo's grandchildren tax them heavily to renew their subleases.

6.They have no option but to pay in order not to lose their inheritances.
