BRAHMOS-A test fire from SU30MKI BrahMos-A has a length of 8550 mm and can be launched at any height between 500m and 9000m. It falls freely for 100-150m before firing. It has a cruise phase altitude of up to 14000m and a terminal phase altitude of 5-15 m. A Brahmos air launch is a relatively straightforward affair. Before take-off, the target coordinates are fed into the missile. When the Su-30MKI reaches the designated launch point, probably just short of the border to maximise range, the pilot releases the Brahmos. The missile drops clear of the aircraft before its booster ignites; then, powered by a ramjet, it quickly accelerates to more than twice the speed of sound providing little reaction time to enemy air defence fighters and missiles. Guided by navigation satellites, its inertial navigation system takes it precisely to its target. The radar is a mono-pulse X-band Imaging Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) unlike TERCOM (Terrain Contour Matching) radars used in slow-flying (sub-sonic) cruise missiles. It uses this radar which gets its updates from the Indian, US and Russian navigation satellites and flies across many way-points (where the flight changes its path instead of the traditional trajectory which can be monitored) to evade enemy radars. The new navigation system uses an Indian chip called G3OM (GPS, GLONASS, IRNSS/GAGAN on a Module). The system weighs around 17 grams, and gives accuracy ~ 1 meter using Indian, US and Russian navigation satellites. The system can also be used in tandem with an Inertial Navigation System (INS) to provide high-accuracy targeting without using any seeker. Fabricated using high strength aluminum, the 6-metre-long airborne launcher the largest in the world which weighs 350 kg. The undercarriage of the Su-30MKI was strengthened to take the extra weight. The missile weight was brought down from 2.9 tonnes to 2.4 tonnes. The BrahMos propulsion involves two-stage motor, of which the booster is the first stage and the ramjet engine being the other one. In order to reduce the weight of the BrahMos-A by 500kg as compared with the navy and army version of BrahMos, the booster size has been reduced with the ramjet engine remaining the same weight. This has been done since BrahMos-A fired from the Su-30MKI will already be at an altitude and will have an initial velocity that do not require much boost to enter the cruise phase powered by the ramjet engine. BrahMos-A can also execute various maneuvers/targeting modes like S maneuver, inverted S loop maneuver , forward slope targeting , reverse slope targeting and terminal diving at almost 90 degree (for targeting aircraft carriers and bunkers on reverse slope) in various flight profiles like hi-lo-lo , lo-hi-lo , hi-hi-lo

kikuyu1:such trade / economic / infrastructure projects spread over multiple nations r always welcomed as they have the potential to dramatically increase trade / socio-economic integration / mutual dependence and cooperation over a variety of issues and across multiple domains . geopolitically also this levels the playing field when dealing with bigger powers. however such projects r long term projects with enormous financial needs, this is where things get a tad interesting this leaves a opening for vulnerability in terms of external interference , project mismanagement , loss of interest etc but as long as the involved countries r on the same page and share the same interests the pitfalls can be avoided easily. on a personal level i will advice to implement the infrastructure (eg road/highway corridor) by leverage the existing roads/highways of the involved countries under taking construction only where necessary. ie using existing infrastructure resources of the participating countries with minimum investment to kick start the project and then sustain and expand on it using the revenue generated from it . much likehow a pilot project but in this case expanded to its maximum capacity. later on when revenue starts pouring in , it can be used to under take new road/highway construction as deemed fit for expansion or new routes. my emphasis is on 'a large scale project must be self financing' from the earliest possible time of project initiation. ie use stage/phase concept not in terms of project construction only, but also implement stage/phase concept in self driven financial sufficiency of the project. these will keep the involved countries interested, made the project sustainable financially as well as make it self sufficient financially to a considerble extent , lower the financial burden of the participating countries etc etc kikuyu1 what is the progress level of this project |

nemesis4u:The project will take a total of maybe 2 decades to complete: This mega project consists of seven key infrastructure projects starting with a new 32 Berth port at Lamu (Kenya); Interregional Highways from Lamu to Isiolo, Isiolo to Juba (South Sudan), Isiolo to Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), and Lamu to Garsen (Kenya), Crude Oil Pipeline from Lamu to Isiolo, Isiolo to Juba; Product Oil Pipeline from Lamu to Isiolo, Isiolo to Addis Ababa; Interregional Standard Gauge Railway lines from Lamu to Isiolo, Isiolo to Juba, Isiolo to Addis Ababa, and Nairobi to Isiolo; 3 International Airports: one each at Lamu, Isiolo, and Lake Turkana; 3 Resort Cities: one each at Lamu, Isiolo and Lake Turkana; and The multipurpose High Grand Falls Dam along the Tana River.http://www.lapsset.go.ke/ As of now the Nbi-Msa SGR is in operation since May. A Lapsset project progress report dated July 2016 shows that of 15 road sections, two are complete, while another two are more than 90 per cent complete. The rest are undergoing design and tendering. Preliminary designs for the standard gauge railway from Lamu to Ethiopia were complete.http://www.nation.co.ke/newsplex/Lapsset-Raila-Odinga/2718262-4006302-hcr15qz/index.html As I said I foresee French false flags once the LAPSSET reaches their domaine prive of the CAR-you may know of how Saffa paras training the national army in 2013 were attacked suffering some serious KIA by a French Proxy force. Once that 6th world country slips out of Jean-Fraude's slimy hands, the whole continental Francophone may follow suit for reasons you can imagine. |

tdayof:if DSS send in female personnel to carry u i think u should risk it ![]() first let me clarify my views r strictly amateurish and just for the sake of interest / conversation and not to be taken as facts there r 2 observation satellites niger/iasat2 and nigeria/sat x in sun synchronous orbits niger/iasat2 has the best resolution of the 2 at 2.5m (open source) so this rules out nige/riasat x mig29 has a length of 17.3m, breadth of 11.99m so nigerias/at2 is in business but problem is niger/iasat2 has a global revisit time of 2 days due to its orbit ie if the sat passes over abuja it will visit abuja again after 2 days or so what if the suda/nese keep track of the satellite path and time of pass , ie after the sat makes a pass over a airfield then after a predetermined time based on the sats coverage its jets can come out for take off which will not be detected or any other activity at the base atleast for next 24-48 hrs point being sats in near polar sun synchronous orbits r good at global reconnaissance (since the sat orbits north to south and since the earth rotates from west to east it allows the sat to have near global reconnaissance coverage but not continuous view of the same area ), however geostationary satellites r good in continuous near real time reconnaissance becz they keep viewing the same potion of the earth at all times . so orbit plays a important role pic1 2.5m resolution imagery from ni/geriasat2 (most probably degraded) pic2 CSTD has a 7.3m X band terminal for imagery/data reception from nige/riasat2 and x , it is not a radar. chances r the guys from DHQ are watching everybody of interest globally ![]()

nemesis4u:Sometimes I wonder your area of specialization. What of the Niger/ia sat1 planned with SAR (synthetic aperture radar). Can this detect aircraft already in the air. It is also useful in environment monitoring like oil spills, flooding, urban growth, global change and military surveillance, which includes strategic policy and tactical assessment. SAR can also be implemented as inverse SAR by observing a moving target over a substantial time with a stationary antenna.

| Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by tdayof(m): 9:03pm On Nov 23, 2017 |
nemesis4u:Yes orbit definitely plays an important reason. I do not know how it's done but I was told there's a 24/7 coverage of the borderline around those sides. Nah. A radar system purchased from the Russian to be precise was linked to the what soever. The command center is also bases in Northern NIGERIA. I tried checking online for any source on the program but can't find any. |

iblawi:if Niger/ia sat1 is equipped with SAR (synthetic aperture radar) and is optimized for Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI) then yes it will detect moving targets on ground like aircraft's taxing on the runway , moving ships , moving vehicles etc. but i don't think it will be able detect aircraft's in the air . atleast i am not aware of such capability . relative velocity between aircraft in flight and sat is too high , sat wont have a chance |

Odunayaw:single hulled subs actually have 2 hulls , one a skin hull and the inner pressure hull double hulled subs have 2 pressure hulls 1.single hulled subs demerits low survivability low crush depth high nose emission low buoyancy 2.single hulled subs merits less complex to build low maintenance requirement low cost high internal space availability lowest wet surface for a given internal volume high speed/horsepower ratio the points i made r very generalized and generic so better to exercise caution and not take them as hard and fast truth ![]() |

Odunayaw:seriously i told u to exercise caution ![]() these points i made r very generic double hulls can dampen noise better atleast on paper , but in real life it depends on the skill , tech and construction methodology applied otherwise it will radiate noise or worse the outer pressure hull may generate noise. single hull subs r very stealthy in real life becz of the design, manufacturing skill, tech employed . basically in real life double hull can be stealthy than single hulled or conversely single hull can be better than double hull it boils down to the skill, tech, design and manufacturing quality of the design and construction company |
