BEFORE YOU BUY THAT FORM AND SELL YOUR PEACE

Once again the Nigerian military has commenced sales of online forms into the premier military university in Africa the NDA Kaduna. Young interested persons have begun registration of applications, but before you decide to choose the military as a career or your calling, they are factors to consider in benefit of foresight retrospect. Most people have made a very grievous mistake of assuming the military as a means to a “sure” means of livelihood but have been cut short by realities and failures of lacking foresight.
Though, we are in what various security analysts and political takers will call “peace time” but we have seen more conflicts rise in the past two decades. National sovereignty of countries are now be threatened with the ever increasing cases of terrorism, civil and ethno-religious clashes, cyber warfare and espionage, foreign economic sabotages on weaker states, economic slavery of lesser developing countries and over dependence on mightier world class economies e.t.c.
One with a rational mind would clearly agree that States need a beef up in defense, security and intelligence effectiveness so as to preserve national sovereignty. One way to go about that is to increase overall manpower quality and quantity of security agencies, which brings us to our theme of focus.
The Nigeria military is by no means a stranger in the dynamism of modern warfare in both conventional and unconventional status .The military has had its own share of conflicts mostly ISOs which have led to an arguably interesting and somewhat eccentric and rapid development…after all nothing brings quicker and much needed development like “peaceful war”.
We therefore focus on the very debatable and fore mostly important intake of REGULAR COMBATANT CADETS into the NIGERIAN DEFENCE ACADEMY, KADUNA. It is worthwhile to keep in mind that though the application to the NDA is open to all interested Nigerians and has seen an increase in both applicants and intake in few years but as the saying goes “many were called, few were chosen, but only the fittest survived”.
Taking a moment to reflect on some questions drafted below might aid you in answering the decision as regard applying into the most prestigious military academy in Africa.
1. Are you qualified to apply for the NDA RC intake?
Requirements into the Academy can be downloaded from the application portal. Most notably amongst the admission requirement is the age clause (which is synonymous with foreign military academies) and academic stipulations (same as conventional universities). There is no sense applying when one doesn’t meet the requirements, it is only a waste of time and resource to do so. Credential and medical screening doesn’t end at the AFSB, it is continuous even in the academy and thereafter. Defaulters who use false means to gain admission such as forgery of documents or concealment of illnesses are punishable under sections 39, 89 and 90 0f the ARMED FORCES ACT of 1994. Candidates seeking to change of name, date of birth, state of origin local government are advised to do such legally with appropriate authorities.
2. Are you up to the intensive mental and physical demands of the NDA routine and thereafter?
NDA IS INTENSIVELY PHYSICAL DEMANDING AS WELL AS MENTALLY AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY
Zero your mind for an ever intense and rigorous routine of physical, military and academic tasks and surely long hours PUTTEE (corrective training or punishment in civil terms). The day begins as early as 0400 hrs with muster parade (heavy sleepers take note) and progresses with a tight schedule o both military exercises and academic classes with barely spare time for personal administration or rest. Not forgetting the ever proactive seniors and officers who just part of the equation. Zero the mind for the worst kind of inconveniences at the worst moments and your body prepped to serve any malice or injustice. Cadets who can’t cope with the burden eventually quit or are withdrawn. Few lucky ones get a second shot. Remember the Academy is not a Boy Scout or, man o war or, police training ground, so no childish fantasies.

baba, if you are been withdrawn it means you are going back to your father's house because you have committed an offence against their regulations then they will terminate your contract.

Please, my brothers in here, I have some questions to ask and I need different responses from all possible angles to be so sure.. I ' m studying ( Education Biology ) in UNILAG and I have failed to be admitted to NDA 2wice and my ambition is to become a Navy officer but not a low ranked one, I would have went for its recruit.. I heard any NDA graduant gets the ( Lit. Colonel ) title and those that have Degree ( 4 years university course ) before going for the 1 year course of vigorous training also secure the Lit. Colonel title - 1. How true is this ? 2. Do I stand a chance of securing the Lit. Colonel title studying a course like ( Education Biology ) after the Short term service ( 1 year training ) ? 3. Is there payment of school fees in NDA ?

"you think say academy na polac"...that a common saying in NDA. As for job wait till you get there, "who no come, no go know"that's another saying.
