Hmmmm, Every state now into Carnival.... And all scheduled for December.
Cross Rivers State started it, and the Calabar carnival is still the best and will remain so.
If you doubts, dont be a Doubting Thomas. attend the Calabar Carnival ...and clear your doubts.

I don't buy the idea of this particular carnival one bit. Very poor organisation, no rhythm what so ever even bad timing.

Remember the good old days of the fanti carnival on Lagos Island every easter Monday, used to look forward to it then but now this crappy confused carnival when u are not sure whether u want to go Caribbean or go Nigerian.

Very poor event I must say. Let's go back to the fanti and better package it.

This is awesome, you will never see a thing like this in Biafra land except pushing druds and chest beating.

Yorubas always making Nigeria proud.

Exactly. I wanted to say lagos carnival is usually easter sunday and monday. Used to be at TBS in the 90's. Beautiful costumes. Awesome music and food. Very carribean. The floats were like those at the nottinghill carnival in london. I think the organizers were janded. Used to love those punched coconuts-sipping coconut water. And everyone came baffed up. Good ol days.

It stopped for a while but I think they restarted it a few years ago. Not sure.

There has always been a carnival in Lagos island at least 2ce a year because there are several families with Brazillian heritage who brought such culture here but it was rather small scale. I attended some in the early 90's.

Which other Carnival attracts more tourists and generates more revenue as the Calabar Carnival?
Have you ever been to the Calabar Carnival?
It is more important and attracts more viewer ship that's why it is aired on Major National TV stations.

Yeah. Calabar started Carnival in Nigeria.
Don't confuse Festival with Carnival. they are not same.
There have always been festivals which were done by various states - eg - the Osun Festival, Argungun Fishing Festival, etc, but there weren't Carnivals until Donald Duke established the Calabar Carnival.
Even though it has lost some of its shines due to passiveness by state govts that took over from Donald Duke, but Calabar Carnival is still uniquely different and still stands out from all other state carnivals that were established after it.
Attend the Carnival this December and see the difference
