if d matter was adjourned for report of settlement the magistrate will never sentence u,trial must be conducted bf it will be subsequently adjourned for adoption of addresses,if u have lawyer as u aforementioned bf sentence, unless u pleaded guilty for d charge. Nevertheless,u will not pay the missing mony, either u pay the fine or u serve 6months jail as affirmed by magistrate

Just pay the 10,000 fine and be free. Nothing more again.
Re: Am I Still Going To Pay Him After Being Jailed? by vetinosae: 8:52pm On Dec 06, 2017
You were charged by the police for committing fraud and embezzlement, breach of trust and criminal conspiracy. settlement out of court simply mean admission of the criminal act allegedly perpetuated. Therefore the penalty for that actions is either you go to jail or pay a fine. in other words, that has nothing to do with the money you are owing and you are going to pay it complete. I will advise you to reach a workable plan with your employer and show to him with your guarantor how it will be paid. thanks. meet lawyers if you are still confuse. going to jail does not erase d debt you owed. let everyone knows this henceforth.

I can bet my life on it that he used the money to stake and lost and he continue playing with the hope that the money will be recovered through winnings .

I am an agent and I know how this things happen but I am surprised both the manager and the agent did not noticed the shortage till it reach 130,000 loun loun . 130,000 is not a small money I'm this business and no way my cashier will have #5000 shortage without me detecting on time .
Mr agent, its better you bet your life on it.

I am very sure that the money did not just dissappeared. Op used the money to fire bet9ja.

I am very sure of this because on of my uncle is an agent of bet9ja. And almost 90% of all his cashiers has been taken to Ojo Police station because they use the money that is meant for business to fire bet9ja and end up loosing it

Op you get luck say your oga employ you without guarantor self.

When he saw me on sunday he was asking me why didnt i contact him that i've been released. He went on to ask me that whats my decision now? I told him that i've not made any decision now and he smiled. I just walked away.
Can you imagine that.

I don't really blame your oga, but I blame Buhari.

People like Buhari has destroyed institutions like the court that was supposed to save the poor. Since the president himself and his appointees don't obey the court, it makes it difficult for your oga to understand the decision of the court is final and that you no longer owe him any money.

A president of a nation saying democracy is impeding his fight against corruption is mentally sick. He don't know that just as there can't be peace without justice, so also there can't be democracy without total obedience to rule of law.

though its past, couldn't he have asked the court to adjourn the case to a later date/time due to the absence of his lawyer?

That guy is not telling you guys the truth .

That's not important. The thing is the court has set him free.

Even if he was caught red-handed stealing money, the court has set him free and that decision is final.

It's like saying a car thief won't have to return the stolen car back to the owner because he's bn jailed for the crime . The stolen items will be recovered if possible n the thief will still have to serve the jail term

Even if he stole 1,000 cars, once he've met the sentence terms according to the court that's the end of the matter. He's no longer paxing it back. THAT'S WHAT NIGERIA CONSTITUTION SAYS.

You're still in a very bad situation. Legally speaking, you have the tag "ex-convict" on you now which you need to get rid of. need to get a good lawyer to appeal this case. You must get a new lawyer to raise the fact that the court went ahead to give a judgement when there was an agreement for an out of court settlement.
