Rochas arrived the market this morning to intimate the traders on why he was demolishing the market but along the line he was booed by angry traders while some pelted pure water sachets at him and he had to leave in a hurry, but before doing so, he introduced the commissioner of happiness and promised to dole out #10 million naira but the crowd told him to spray it there, regardless of the anger of many people some were seen hailing him but they were in the minority. Few hours later after the governor left, a crowd of heavily armed Imo security network members arrived the market accompanied by earth moving equipment and began to demolish some shops while some traders where seen frantically trying to salvage their goods! The traders were earlier given until Friday as deadline to vacate.

There seems to be an ongoing war in Owerri against the poor people while the city is being "pimped" for the rich. But the problem is that there is never an utopian city where the poor is muzzled out only for the rich to remain. Right now it's a crime to be poor in Owerri, over ten thousand Keke riders lost their jobs in one fell swoop, thousands of poor people were sent parking from mechanic village at Aba road, street traders were harassed out of major roads, Eke Ukwu Owerri was demolished, new market was demolished and the worst thing is that unlike cities like Aba, Onitsha & Enugu, Owerri has no industrial or commercial base, it's just a civil servants town with a growing tourism industry. Right now, hunger, starvation and hopelessness is thick in the air and can be felt by all. The economy of the city is now at a standstill.
