My opinion having used the fx45 in 2011... It is very different from a murano. Its stronger and the engine is totally different from that of a murano despite being from the same maker... Nissan... The Infiniti series are generally strong and depending on your maintenance culture would serve you super well... Unlike its Nissan counterpart its more mechanical than electrical. Carries a v8 engine in the 45 and 50... A v6 in the 35... And packs a super pick up speed like an actual crossover should. Infiniti fx series is still on of the best Asian crossover u can buy

Oga na Toyota sure pass!
I don't really know what is it with Toyota and Honda Nigerian people. The parts are way too expensive due to excessive demand. Last month I intend to change my 2008 Passat fabric seat to complete tokunbo leather interior, the cost is 35k and as a result of that my madam 2004 Honda EOD also need an interior over due to expired leather interior and I was at Ladipo yesterday with the mind on getting something at the same range. Be hold friends its 90k or nothing.
So many other parts like that, a friends 05 Camry two front shock is 20k, 2008 Passat two front shock is 10k.
I really don't know what they term as easy maintainability in Toyota and Honda is way off because of demand.
Re: What Are The Pros And Cons Of Infiniti FX? by Lamexx(m): 8:47am On Dec 14, 2017
The FX 35 is not for everybody. It is for special people. Maintainance will depend on the size of your pocket, quality of the car you buy and who your mechanic is. Firstly, try to get 1st grade tokunbo if possible direct from US. Avoid Nigerian used. The problem with maintaining an Infiniti is that there are not too many broken down Infiniti's in mechanic workshop like Toyota and co. The car is filled with technology that other cars envy. Sensors here and there and that is why the ability of your mechanic matters alot. The engine does not give issue. FX35 don't have brain box or gear problem. The car was built to last. The engine was designed to grow old with the owner. Every part of the car is pricey. Headlamp is between 250k - 350k both tokunbo and new (china), new bumper is like 70k, tokunbo is 50k. So avoid accident because the car will be doing you longer throat to drive it faster. You will have to drive carefully to avoid any scratch. To get good performance, you will need semi-synthetic lubricant. I used Castrol Edge all throught cos I am a sucker for performance. You can look for high quality low cost synthetic lube like Mobil 1. Gas price can also pose an issue expecially if you like to floor the pedal like me. Most Infiniti's comes with cruise control so you can help yourself by using the preset on highway. If you want to commute in go-slow, you will end up hating the FX35. Better look for Toyota or Honda. As per handling and performance, the Infiniti is the best. I bought a 2006 FX35 as my first car, used it to learn driving. Whenever another FX cruises near me, I still turn my head in it direction to admire it's beauty even though I am driving in one. Anytime I hear the exhaust note, I am filled with so much joy. You would not understand until you actually drive one. Handling is awesome, balance is sublime. The FX is the sport car of all SUV's. If you have a heavy foot, I promise you, the fuel attendant in your area will know your first name and middle name becos you will be regular customer.

Hello Nairalanders,
Guys, I am considering buying a Used Infiniti FX but people keep discouraging me.
What are the issues with the vehicle? I really love the car but I don't want to buy something that will give me high blood pressure.
Your advice and inputs will be highly appreciated
Run as long as your legs could carry you as long as it is a Nigeria used inifiniti

The car is great very great atleast from review I've heard.
But you know nigerians, we are always managing ourselves..its either it's a toyota or honda.......because of easy maintenance, and maintenance isn't just about having money but also accessibility to maintenance expert conveniently.....

I love the car's shape die especially the 2010 series....
But me.. I ddnt have a good experience with Nissan murano because a lot of Nigerian mechanics are toyota, honda, golf compliant by default.
I believe that the Nissan FX series is just another murano in another box design...

One thing I can say for sure is that the car has got a great engine like the murano, and if u are are speed demon...you won't regret having the car....if you can get a good maintenance engineer and stick to the recommended engine and gear oil

General pros and cons: you are dealing with a large car, hence big tyres 18-22inch chromes...Change of tyre na money ooo, weda used or new....
It usually comes with a v6 engine, it's technically a speed monster, so u need to get ready for extra gear service and co...

Parts are generally more expensive than small car...the full light, radiator, engine shouldn't be less than 250k and above

My opinion though..
I even thought that this one was talking about infinix phone. O boy don't go there, most of my friends that bought the car are regretting and their cars have parked up.
Re: What Are The Pros And Cons Of Infiniti FX? by Nobody: 9:24am On Dec 14, 2017
I have driven this car, I mean FX 35 (2003)
Pros: Handles well - thanks to suspension and 22inches tires, quick, good cornering, luxurious (Dual climatic control, usb chargers - front seats and passenger seats, Leather seats, Inteligent seats, side mirrows and steering adjusts to fit driver, sporty look and gives you prestige, the sound note of the exhaust (as that of a race car) is captivating, and the car is balanced for speed and you are not careful, you will drive @ 140km/hr without you realizing it, etc

Cons: Expensive to maintain (last year, we changed the fuel guage @25k, Their is no leg room for back seats, Gas guzzler - well it is a V6, each 22" tire is about 25k) Engines are not as "strong" as Toyota engines, Small boot for an SUV, Prone to electrical problems (my experience is that as the car ages, the power windows does not work well, so we permanently wind up and use AC- more gas consumption, also, other functions like intelligent seat/steering adjustments gets faulty and you may do that manually), dashboard cracks like Toyota Camry "muscle" so, you need a sun reflector; .

My take is that any Nissan/Infinity is better enjoyed when in New or Faily used condition - not naija used

People complaining of engine problem with FX35/45 models don't know that your driving habit, the quality and frequency of your maintenance schedule may make or mar your driving experience with the Infiniti. FX35/45 is not the type of car you maintain like Toyota Venza or Camry - maybe one oil change in 6 months. To enjoy the Infiniti, you'll need quality synthetic lubricant, good mechanic and good driving habit. The quality of fuel you buy too will affect the performance of that car. You have to avoid driving on low fuel indicator light to avoid dirt entering the fuel supply system. That car is filled with too much sensor that one small thing can pack up the car. I will always have the Infiniti as one of my fleets. I look forward to the All new 2019 QX50 coming in Spring 2019. It looks like the most fuel efficient vehicle in Infiniti's lineup sacrificing power for fuel efficiency.

You're getting it wrong my man. Number one, EOD is not Toyota, number two, Toyota parts are readily available hence the reduction in price compared to cars that few people use. Only few spare parts sellers buy spare parts that will tie down their capital, being fully aware that you must have looked for this parts in so many places and could not get it and also taking into consideration the amount of sacrifice they made in keeping this slow market parts for a buyer to come, the seller sells this parts 3 times the cost of a fast moving market.

The Infiniti FX is a very reliable, powerful, sleek and cute car [like every other car, maintenance is key to sustenance]. Good thing you are seeking advice before purchasing one! People sell of their cars for one reason or the other...FIND OUT WHY THIS ONE IS BEING SOLD OFF!

The fact that a car moves, does not mean it is OK. I own a 2007 FX35 model which I have been using since 2010...also own one of the QX family. The infiniti brand is rugged and the brake system is fantastic (just ensure that your drums are not worn out or marked by worn out brake pads).

From my experience with the brand (I have really flogged it!), I will like to point out the following:

Watch out for DASHBOARD BUBBLES (the dashboard reacts to heat and thereafter brings out tiny bubbles all over it – ugly sight)

No fuel economy

If you don’t earn a good regular income, don’t go for it

The original parts are expensive but last longer

Its acceleration is fantastic

Its well balanced on even and un-even road
Re: What Are The Pros And Cons Of Infiniti FX? by webmaster3: 10:21am On Dec 14, 2017
I currently drive 2005 FX35. The ride is a beast and responds fast once you press the throttle. Love the turbo sound that comes out of the exhasut. Its also a very reliable car as i have never had issues with mine and been using it for 3 years now. If you love music, the car comes with BOSE surround speakers and woofers (factory fitted) and you would enjoy listening to music when driving

Cons: Its a fuel Guzzler so you need to consider the current price of Fuel. I stay on the mainland and work on the island and spend 16k weekly on fueling. Compare this with the Boring Toyota Corrrola's that would use 5k fuel weekly commuting the same axis.

There was a Recall on the dash board was covered under manufacture warranty in the states ..Don't know why they do not offer such services in naija
Infinity Fx's are great trucks

OP, if you want to buy a Nigerian used Infiniti, run for your life.

Haven't used an Infiniti but I've used a Nissan Altima. From my experience and that of many others, anything "Nissan company product" that's been used in Nigeria, stay far away from it for the safety and security of your wallet.

If its first grade Toks, then enjoy it all you want (still keeping in mind the higher cost of maintenance that comes with such a powerful car).

It depends on the model year, compare the parts of any of Mercedes 2016 saloon car with maybe 2016 Toyota Corolla or Avalon and you'll see a big difference in price as Mercedes parts are almost twice expensive

I'm comparing shock absorber for 05 Camry @ 20k to 08 Passat @ 10k. It means 08 Camry would be selling for like 30k way more expensive than Passat of same year model. Likewise 2004 Honda Uphostary going for 90k while that of 08 Passat is just 35k . people just keep wallowing in ignorance, those cars are just overrated .

Devote some time and get a part dealer yourself. Mechanic would called a part you can get for 5k directly from part dealer for 30k because they know you will not confirm it. I buy my part from iyana Itire, and what I did was to get 2 contact of major dealers and when ever I need part I only put a call through them to get a good price range of it.
Mechanic will always at least double your cost or even get 1000% gain on your parts for a very terrible one among them.

Durability and Second-hand value. You can use a 2004 Toyota Corolla for 4 years and still sell it same amount you bought it.
Re: What Are The Pros And Cons Of Infiniti FX? by Nobody: 10:27pm On Dec 14, 2017
From personal experience with a 2004 model, if u want to buy it buy direct tokunbo, buying nigerian used can be a pain as lots of owners here cut corners to save cost and u won't know what has been modified or not and trust me this car doesn't like it when u cut corners like changing the engine of the power windows to local ones instead of OEM.

This car is not similar to Murano, I don't know why people are comparing them.

Pros
1. Beautiful ride with nice leather interior
2. Good acceleration and handling, low centre of gravity which also has its own cons.
3. Five speed automatic transmission (instead of the cvt in Murano) with manual. That thing sounds like a power bike when u floor it. Make sure u use Nissan matic D for transmission, but don't be scared, it's not as sensitive as the cvt in Murano.
4. Solid engine and the engine is layout is simple, easy to work on if u know what u are doing.
5. Very good audio, 6 loader with subwoofer that sounds really great.

Cons

1. Questionable dashboard material, 3 out of 5 of this car (first generation) on the road have their dashboard popping.
2. Dodgy 6 loader stereo, it is too slow and if u are not s patient one u will probably end up jamming the mechanism when loading CDs. And I don't like that yellow display unless u get one with reverse camera that comes with upgraded color display. Also it doesn't have an auxiliary output.
3. Harsh ride due to it's low center of gravity, this gives it more stability in high speed but rough on bumpy roads.
4. Parts are not very cheap, but then it's an Infiniti, the parts are similar in price to a Lexus rx330 of the same year.

Not just bandwagon and it's not just a Nigerian thing. Toyotas have good second hand value even in the USA.

Infinti FX 35 is a good car. But I hate dashboard peeling of a thing. My auntie is still making of the one she bought since 4 yrs.
When I asked her about prons and cons she said u have to be pocket loaded to enjoy this ride. She revealed that the reasons why the spare parts are costly are because they don't have fake parts just like Toyota or nissan. When you buy their spare parts it can last for you for yrs. I will also advise you not to buy nigerian used too. She bought her own from America and she's enjoying it. Pls lets forget about fuel oh.. You know the car is a V6 engine with many features and its has good sound system too...

michelin latitude or even pilot sports tyre 20" cost between 135-150k brand new.
mpg is horribly poor for a vehicle of its size n class.
suspension is too stiff for practical daily commute.
parts are very cost and quite scarce.
terrible blind spots due to its build.
not practical in hauling people or cargo due to its slopy shape.
