The Hausa States were original Matriarchal ruled by a Queen. E.g. Sarrounia /Magajiya. Even the Priestesses were women.
Due to islamization one of the ancient Queens of Daura was forced to run away or face death at the hands of male relatives and she reached Longou and gave birth to the Sarrounia of Longou which even now is ruled by a Female Hausa Queen. The kingdom of Longou was animist Pagan purely till 50 years back.

Daura state is itself name after the famous Queen of that region,, Daurama.

Daura Emir is still Hausa lineage. Not Fulani. He is Sarkin Daura.

List of Daura female rulers:

Kurfuru, Shata, Gino, Walzama, Shawata, Daura, Batatume, Yanbamu, Innagari, Gamata, Sandamata, Jamata, Zama, Yakumo, Yukuna, Gizirgizir, and Hamata.

The senior princess in the Daura emir's family is still known today by the title Magajiva.

Wow!!! thanks for this piece of information,I believe you majored in African history ?

If your narrative is plausible ,why then are the female rulers maginalised or relegated to the background especially in our society (North or southern part of the country ) since you rarely hear much about them as their male counterparts

Does anyone know the relevance of the turbaning?

Royalty. Blue-blood. Class. Setting the Pace in matters of royalty. Royalty mentality is in a class of its own - it is segmented mentality. Their concerns can be weird to one not so privileged. That’s one of the reasons blue-blood intermarry. One not blue-blooded can’t mingle with them easily. You may not understand but that’s the relevance Sir!

That's why they inter-marry?

What happened to ennobling the commoner?

I meant to say they strive to keep their blood line “pure”.

So marrying a commoner would stain the royal bloodline?

I understand you are just trying to make a point, maybe as a royal or as someone who thinks he understands how royals think, but I definitely have issues with you trying to defend the brazen act where the rich marry themselves and keep wealth rotating among them.

Emir of Daura, H.R.H. Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, on December 13, conferred on his young daughter, Princess Halima Sadiya Umar Farouk, the title of Mayajiya Yakumo of Daura Emirate.

After the turbaning ceremony, Gimbiya Aisha Umar Farouk threw a lavish birthday party for her daughter, who turned one year same day.

The monarch got married to his young wife in mid 2015.

The Kwara people will be covering face. Just look at the wife of the Emir of Daura looking posh. Same people who sold you same religion. I weep for Kwara and Oyo muslim.

It is a fact of life that some will rule over others in return for some responsibilities they will carry. The idea is called The Right Of Kings. You may google “Magna Carta” to see more about that. Even in The Animal World out in the wild such exists. Overtime among men it became democracy. The same idea forms the basis for all governmental systems- republic, monarchy, socialism et al
The right to decide who to marry is personal and should not be forced. To that extent Royalty as well as the rich are not out of order to keep commoners out of their lineage. It can ocassion the unpalatable for a commoner to attempt to get grafted into Royalty - Mr. Al-Fayed lost his son Dodi and investments to such misadventure.
