It forced the Germans to step up their game. However, since then, the Lexus LS has lost a bit of its sheen. It’s become a dull and squishy sedan for aging golfers and folks who put their teeth in jars at night.

Bros, I have owned, at least a class of MB, leased and test drove MB from E Class to S-Class including G-Wagon and GLC, BMW from M5 to 760Li. As I write. German automobile showrooms have no use for me.

Then you are talking of your personal choice not that in reality you could compare both in price or durability., ask yourself where are teh LS400 today?,least we 4get, the lexus is Toyota, so lets leave it at that, SO you want to compare a Lexus to a Maybach right?

LS400 remained the top dog status for 10 years USA as best consumer product. The only thing that messed up LS460 was direct-injection configuration and electro-mechanical steering wheel. I hope the bugs on the steering have been solved. As for direct-injection, it is for the people who have short term usage of their vehicle. By the way, personal preference factors into choice of vehicle. However from engine and transmission durability. engine noise to suspension, Lexus has leg up on German vehicles.

The discussion is solely LS VS S class, after the LS400 posed a treat in the 90s,the only other time it did again was in 13-16 and that was the LS600h L.

Besides the 1990s LS400 are very much around in good condition with AC and an everyday driver even with its V8 engine same can't be said for the S class of same year.

Even the Toyota crown is also around for every classic Benz you see, there are classic of other car makers too even opel. But what appeals to you may not appeal to others.

Nope, I meant only S-class I have never watched a LS VS A8 or 7series, besides the A8 is always replaced by the Bentley flying spur while the 7 series is replaced by Rolls Royce and Benz then replaces the S600 with the AMG VARIANT.

THE A8 and 7series are full size luxurious vehicles but they tend to sideline them in their class

Bros this my point. I had 1992 LS 400 with 432,390 mile until six month ago when the harness burnt up including the ECU. The same naturally aspirated V8 engine and transmission. It is only S-class MB probably 2004 to 2006 that can give a slight run for the money.

The real truth is over all the Benz has always won the A8, 7series, LS and the rest of the gang of full size luxury sedan out there in the market. But the Benz is not king as there are 2 warriors on the top contenders list Rolls-Royce made by BMW and the Bentley continental flying spur made by VW.

All car reviews I've watched pitching mercedes benz and these cars were not proper cos they were pitching the s65 amg which is a luxury performance vehicle against the British cars which are meant for luxury alone.

The Maybach 57 and 62 were failed products it started in 2002 and they never changed the design, the sales was nothing to write home about.

The S65 is still Benz best bet, merging luxury with performance. Even the W12 in the Bentley finds it hard to outclass the S65 in performance and handling
