Do you think its possible to know the man/woman you'll be spending the rest of your life with,after your parents approval,u just go straight ahead to courtship. It was done like that in the bible. |

Jochabed:It doesn't work that way,at least not nowadays. It happened in the bible and still happened to a few people in the 60s but it would be hard nowadays.Then it wasn't so much about love but commitment and family background. 2 Likes |

Children were betrothed to each other in traditional African culture. Christianity, Islam and Judaism have never been this pure in intent. It happened then and most marriages survived the test of time. It's not happening now and marriages are crashing here and there. Within the last 10years, most marriages I know that crashed, was a product of dating for years and getting married later. The few ones looking happy and good are couples that met shortly before wedding. The saying you normally hear that the rich marry the rich is arranged marriage na. Buhari daughter married Indmi son, Yar adua daughter married a former governor and many many others and we have not heard any negative stories about their marriages. |
