I judge player based on his contributions to the team's success. And if you have noticed, that's how its been done for most european players.
I only use stat when both players are on the same level. E.g, judging kane vs lukaku in a season.

Bonnuci has been called a top 5 defender here. Many people will list him as one of the top defenders recently he only benefitted from cover from his Juve community defence. Individually he is a poor defender which is what he is showing now at Milan. Just like Terry who enjoyed the cover from more illustrious teammates.
