Really? Is it true that everyone has a price? I guess I just discovered that you have a price too. This is about fraudulently acquiring government properties, not about the previous administration's policy. David Mark has gone to court, I guess they too will do the same. So, no need to be sympathetic to fraudsters in the name of politics.

I really do wish that Jonathan is behind bars right now. The man irks me.

I understand fully well that buhari is worth nothing and totally incompetent but Jonathan.... Jonathan disappointed me the most. He seemingly had it all, was educated, came from a humble background and a sister tribe, had practically most of our people around him and yet his government was the most corrupt. A man who could brazenly tell us all that stealing is not corruption deserves to be in jail with the key thrown away.

If voting in buhari for a second tenure can make this a sweet reality, I will go for it. That is how much I detest the man called Jonathan and his ilk. Of course, the next president after buhari can feel free to lock him up for his misdeeds and so on and so forth.

Guys read this article again and again? I saw along the line and i quote * these properties were sold without competitive market or buyer* meaning the panel agreed to the fact that the house could be sold but must be competitive* (Note pls)So like what price should theze proerties goes for? 1billion or 1trillion

Pls are all these why people voted for apc, to kill opposition? Since pdp convention apc has started these madness. Nigeria is about to collapse and it will be so shameful if Buhari break the record again, so only the house of ekeremadu, bankole, David mark are now illegal right?

These vengeance Buhari and his party are sowing will tear this country to pieces and I pity Buhari if by chance power move out of apc hands Buhari might end his life in jail because they will angrily descend on him. Let's the revenge game go on we are enjoying it.

I was amongst those that criticised the salebof govt properties to govt officials occupying it then but the FEC still sat and approved the policy, the best thing this govt can do now is stop the meaningless policy but trying to go backed to collect the properties already sold is very expensive process that will cost the govt more in the long term and moreso if it cant be done equitably then there is absolutely no need go about it and by that I mean the govt must make sure its not selective in its so called recovery by recovering every Property from 1999 till date given away by the policy and that should include all houses , vehicles and any other undeserved allotment of govt resources on the whim of an FEC executive order
Which includes all vehicles and undeserved remunerations paid to all past heads of state including Buhari since 1999.

The Special Presidential Investigation Panel, for Recovery of Public Property has given the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, a former Speaker of the House of Reps, Dimeji Bankole, and former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Aloysius Katsina-Alu, 21 days to vacate their residences.

The Chief Okoi Obono-Obla-led panel issued the quit notice on Thursday to the three politicians, as well as former Deputy Speaker and current Senator Usman Bayero Nafada.

A former Senate President, David Mark, received similar quit notice from the Panel back in September to which he had since filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja to quash all the steps taken to evict him and recover the house from him by the panel.

The panel said the five of them illegally acquired their then-official residences as their private properties.

According to DailyTrust, the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan had in November 2010 reportedly gave leave to the Senate President, the Deputy Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, to “purchase” their official quarters.

A source told Daily Trust, “The Senate President’s residence was sold to David Mark for N748 million; Speaker, House of Representatives’ residence was sold to Hon Dimeji Bankole for N670 million; while Deputy Senate President residence was sold to Senator Ike Ekweremadu for N458 million.

“Deputy Speaker House of Representatives residence was sold to Senator Nafada for N348.5 million; and they were all sold without competitive bidding contrary to the provisions of the Public Procurement Act especially Section 15 thereof”, one of the sources said, adding that the residence of Juctice Katsina-Alu was sold to him at N45million.

The newspaper also reports that former President Jonathan had directed that the sale of the property should be gazetted in the Federal Government Gazette in his minute in a memo sent to him by the then minister of the FCT Senator Bala Muhammad dated 18 November 2010, but that was not done.

The source added, “A gazette is a notice to the whole world of the position of government on any issue and since there was a prevailing gazette that the house bought by the plaintiff (referring to David Mark) should not be sold under Government monetization policy, the gazette would have superseded the previous one.

“So the previous gazette prevails since the sale was not gazetted. That alone has vitiated the sale. Secondly the sale is against the public procurement Act which provides any contract for a good and service must be through competitive bidding. The sale was not through competitive bidding.”

According to the news outlet added that the houses, which were not ordinary houses but institutional houses to principal officers of the National Assembly and the Executive had no right in the first place to given order for the houses to be sold

But to be fair enough and frankly speaking, Those structures shouldn't have been sold in the first place and given the valuation reported above, They could cost much more.

And Instead of building New one for every regime as that could be taken as precedence, Why not cut down on the budget to only renovation so that the extra cost of erecting new ones or paying for rent before they become readily available for use, can be put to use for the benefit of Nigerians in other sub-units of Governance.?

All these are why the complaint about the Nigeria's National Assembly being the most expensive institution of it kind around the world when other consideration are pulled together.

certainly, Each and every Nigerian need to change either in a singular, double, treble or multiple direction in truth with the basics revolving around the Spiritual institution that is the bedrock of Our (GOD) existence.

To me the only thing that Jonathan failed to do during his reign was his inability to put the Aso rock up for sale & buy it himself. that was his greatest undoing, why on earth would he have sold the official residences of other high ranking government officials & he didn't extend that gesture to himself. Had it being he was only able to summed up the courage and bought that place for himself, PMB won't be there to be doing all this yansh opening now.
Just my opinion oooo, no harm intended. Pls don't quote me oooo.

I doubt those properties can ever be recovered. A law should simply be passed to prevent such anomalies from re-occuring in future.

And they end up circumventing any such new laws as well, ad infinitum, because they would think there would be no repercussions to flouting laws and policies.

We should in fact realise that, the governments of OBJ and GEJ in selling those national assets actually circumvented their own existing rules and policies regarding those assets!

There has to be a repercussion and deterrence against such impunity, otherwise there can never be real progress in our/any society.

I'm sure if the Innoson issue did not happen this week you will search for another reason why Ekweremadu is the target.
For your information the issue of recovery of wrongly sold government houses has been going on before Innoson matter. The report clearly shows David Mark is already in court over a similar issue
