yes, on individual level messi is a better player, the difference is clear for all to see except if we want to be sentimental. If not for his club's achievements he wouldn't have come close to matching messi's records on paper.

But one thing stands out about Ronaldo, he is a goal machine, can score from virtually any where on the pitch. He has proved it several times, something you don't see messi doing.

That's the 2002 squad, not 2000. Delima was still at Intermilan in 2000. That squad had better players man for man but the 2017 squad has been more successful. Most of the guys in the 2017 squad were the same guys who broke the CL jinx of being the first team to win the CL back to back. They won the CL thrice within 4 years.
