I.diot..common remove Onitsha from your tirade as we have far better relaxation/tourism zones across our state. Anambra people don't live in Imo state neither do they ever visit there, whereas there are over 2million Imolites resident in Onitsha alone. Stop fooling yourself, Owerre is a 100% Imo state resident town as other Nigerians don't go there, neither do Igbos visit nor live there like in the case of Onitsha and Enugu. [s] Abagworo:[/s] |

Abagworo:By home I meant Igboland. Owerri is not the village anyway so even for someone from Imo state Owerri isn't their village. I wonder how many Bayelsa men or women for that matter go to Owerri every weekend though. With all that has been said I still don't think Owerri is tourist destination. We agree to disagree because neither of our opinions on this will change. We differ on definition and that's just going to have to be okay. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Abagworo(m): 1:21pm On Jan 02, 2018 |
londoner:You wonder because you don't know. Like I wrote earlier just pay a visit and you will regret some of the things you once believed. Owerri is the top weekend destination in Rivers and Bayelsa which I am very sure of and not assumption. It used to be Port Harcourt in the past but moved to Owerri few years ago. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by londoner: 1:28pm On Jan 02, 2018 |
Abagworo:Igbos going to Owerri from where they live in Bayelsa and PH maybe. Which was one of my original points. If I visit SE/SS Enugu is top of my list along with Calabar and Uyo.I'll visit Owerri if I have the time. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Abagworo(m): 1:35pm On Jan 02, 2018 |
londoner:I mean natives of Rivers and Bayelsa not Southeasterners. Your choice is yours but it doesn't change reality. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by londoner: 1:36pm On Jan 02, 2018 |
Abagworo:Unless you meet them all how would you really know where they are native to? Anyhoo, we agree to disagree. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Abagworo(m): 1:47pm On Jan 02, 2018 |
londoner:I'm half Rivers and lived most of my life there. Most of my friends are from Rivers or Bayelsa and I own a sizeable firm employing multiethnic and other racial personnel. I don't really need to do much sampling as my firm and environs are enough to draw a moderate reflection. However it takes visiting Owerri to notice the multiethnic and multiracial mix of the weekend visitors. |

Abagworo:But the number of people you are talking about that you know are likely to be less than what is needed to claim a place as a tourist destination though. Yes, a visit will give an unbiased view. |

BeijinDossier:Are you so drunk to put Owerri with Awka and the confusion called Onitsha in one sentence discussing planning and urbanisation. How many people from Imo do business in Onitsha apart from the Orlu-Ideato axis because of proximity? If you had said Aba maybe you would have made some sense. Even at that, the few Imo people doing business went to earn a leaving just the same way some Anambra went to Aba for business. Today Owerri is arguably in the leagues of Lagos and Abuja when it comes to tourist destination. So dont stay in one village in Ekwulobia and be talking what you have no clue about... |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by emmysoftyou: 3:19pm On Jan 02, 2018 |
londoner:you are entitled to your opinion I must confess. I was in owerri recently and I really enjoyed myself, I was at the Christmas in owerri, I even took selfie there. The whole place look beautiful. Owerri is becoming a place to be and to stay. My problem with owerri is how they stop keke from entering the main town in owerri. I was coming from akabo area when I stop keke man and he said his last bstop is amawire.. But seriously, the tarred roads in owerri really transform the state..

You are drunk and mad at the same time to put Awka and the slum called Owerri on the same page. Owerri is a planless chaos filled with poor people. Over 2million Imolites are today resident in Onitsha alone. Most of the rich Imolites including Orange drugs etc are all resident in Onitsha. Onitsha is the greener pasture and abroad of Imolites. Some neighbourhoods in Onitsha are termed Imo state because of their huge population of Imolites. Don't stay in your village in Owerri and write rubbish. Nonsense. I can even sight Orange Drug's house in Onitsha from the picture below. [s] maestroferddi:[/s]

Chino too like trouble. How much is the average cost of land in Owerri, expecially along PH road, where you have Imo State Polytechnic. cc Abagwaro |

freeze20:I don't know as I've never intended buying there but surely the part that falls within Urban can't go less than 15 million while Avu to Obinze could be between 3 to 10 million. Umuagwo should be between 800k and 2 million. I guessed based on my little knowledge of Owerri real estate. |

The fact that Heroes park where the controversial statues are sited witnessed average of 5 to 10,000 visitors daily from 21st to 31st December proves that it is a true center of tourism.

BeijinDossier:When you learn to think critically and not sounding off like an Ochanja market stark illiterate then we can cross swords. Orange Drugs that is contributing massively to the IGR of Anambra State appears to your scrambled mind like a peripathetic economic migrant.. Are you not ashamed to ascribe a figure of two million to Imo people in Onitsha? You are implying that more than 30% of Anambra total population are Imo indigenes meaning that Imo people are running your state. I have been reading the sundry embarrassment you have been doing to yourself here ostensibly in trying to cast aspersions on everything Imo State. It might interest you to remember that momentum is with Imo State as the epicenter of knowledge and enlightenment in Igboland. We are not infamous for noisemaking and blowing hot air.. |

You are such a dumb Owerri illiterate. What I am implying is that Imolites had fled their state in search of golden fleece in Anambra. It implies that Imo state does not have an economy that can hold its own people. Yes Imo state people as migrants contributes to the economy of another state because their own state failed to provide the enabling environment for them to thrive at home unless they travel to Anambra just like Orange Drugs did. Yes, there are over 2million Imolites resident in Onitsha alone who fled their state for economic survival. Imo state is the center of prostitution and not knowledge/education. If not tell me why you have not produced Azikiwes, Ojukwus, Ekwuemes, Achebes, Emeagwalis, Soludos, Chimamandas. etc etc..the list is almost endless. Bunch of useless illiterates. maestroferddi:

Hehehehehe Pained over what? LOL 99% of Ochanja traders are your fellow Imolites that ran away from your worthless state. You are now cursing them ![]() Useless Owerri illiterate..that is what you are. If it pains you so much kill yourself. I am still waiting for a list of achievers from your cursed Imo state that can match the Azikiwes, Achebes, Soludos, Emeagwalis, Chimamandas etc etc.. Useless people ![]() maestroferddi: |

Abagworo:Rochas said the statues were to honor past heroes and inculcate a desire to be great in the young children. Lets face it. Does it mean Rochas will not mould Sam Mbakwe, the father of modern Imo state? Nor mould Prof. Chinua Achebe, the father of African literature? How come the only people he considers heroes are former politicians and some were known for their deep corruption (Obasanjo and the missing $16 billion for NIPP or $2.8 billion suddenly missing in 1978). Even Zuma is currently undergoing impeachment process in his country for corruption. Are these the types of people that we want the future generation to emulate? Soon, we shall start erecting statues of coup plotters, armed robbers and other unfortunate characters responsible for the state of affairs today in Nigeria. |

| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Cjrane2: 3:03pm On Jan 03, 2018 |
ChimaAgbalajob:Only politicians are heroes in Rochas book. Scientists and other great achievers are nothing to him. He will mould your statue if there is something to gain politically. That is why some undeserving statues must come down evetually |

Cjrane2:Okorocha is not the 1st nor the last Governor but rather the 1st to deem it fit to build a hall of fame. Future Governors will still honor more people. Presently we have Kwame Nkrumah, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sam Mbakwe, Olusegun Obasanjo and Tafawa Balewa |
