MIKOLOWISKA: The statement I made was embedded with the fact that we have capacity to produce sufficient steel if concerted effort can be directed into steel making infrastructures. Industrial revolution in most developed countries of today have been found to be majorly rely on the development of steel industry of each of the country. From US and Europeans in the in late 19th to early 20th century...Japan since the 30s, and Lastly China in recent years. About 70% of cost of structural infrastructures and machinery comes from steel..for instance, steel are the major component of refinery and pipelines...any infrastructural endeavor in the country without indigenous steel is tantamount to waste through shipping of scarce fund oversee. Nigeria can be self sufficient in steel. There are several iron ore deposit scattered all over the country and west Africa sub region, with Itakpe Kogi state boasting of a massive deposit both in quality and quantity. Ajaokuta if functional would have been one one of the largest steel plant in the world...you might want to say white elephant project...but new steel plant can be built/invested in from the scratch...Ajaokuta subsidiaries in Aladja and Osogbo are ready for work if production start today in Ajaokuta or any other blast furnace. Collapsed buildings and eroding roads Our engineers are all lazy thieves
Our engineers are not lazy and they are not necessarily thieves. A lot of indigenous Nigeria construction companies are treated by the government exactly the way we treated our indigenous football coaches...bad pay not paid at the appropriate time. we offer our indigenous coaches that were trained in same training facilities as Europeans fractions (1/10) of what we offer foreign coaches and we still treat our own with disgust...That is exactly the fate of most indigenous government contractors. Most multinational companies Mobil, Chevron, Shell, JB, P&G, Breweries, MTN, Glo, Dangote group etc are being run by mostly Nigerian Engineers. There are several structures that were completed by indigenous company for instance Lagos Domestic was completed by Wale Bablakin's Bi-Courtney. Ofcourse indigenous company might not start building skyscrapers or bridges overnight, it comes with experience...It took China decades into their industrial revolution before they started to build Bridges, but they are now the King in bridge building. Meanwhile, Most of the so called eroding roads are built by foreign companies... This hasn't solved rice problem in 20 years
I wanted higher tariff on New Automobiles not because I ant us to start producing automobile but to drastically reduce the amount being shipped out of the economy as a result of luxury goods...which in most cases motivate embezzlement of government and company funds...if you want to steal to buy car at least let the money stay in the economy. Why not immediately
Some children might no be born in the hospitals, parents might not have access to registration facilities because of location...some communities might have to wait for registration officers etc. 2 months should be sufficient to for every parents have access to birth certificate and registration of their kids Somebody will still manipulate the contract
with efficient national data/social security number manipulations will be reduced to the barest minimal in about 15 years Simply force everyone to invest in pension fund of their choice
The social security help will be for elderly people that are helpless and maybe were not opportune to have a structured job that will allow them to have pension scheme...help will come in the form of food, and other necessities...mostly access from local producers Leave market alone
No country in the world practice pure market economy, even the US tax the working class to pay the lazy people and the elderly...this mostly come in the form of food stamp, cheap housing, free health services, subsidized telecoms, subsidized poatal service, subsidized air ticket, subsidized train services and social welfare security for the elderly...every 65 year old in the US have access to about 10% discount rate on everything they buy anywhere...If the father of market economy will not leave it to the market why should we? Don't forget or you need to realize that Government is different from Business How will he do his job if he is campaigning for 6 months
of course that can be easily navigated...venturing into politics must come with a price...for instance 6 months leave without pay is an option, such civil servant must be ready to relinquish his/her responsibilities during electioneering...the price ofcourse will be lost of position after return to service. The 3 and 5 years limit in Abuja I suggested is to disrupt allegiances and collabos So so Oga is not on seat ba
Oba ku, oba ku... fed no wan relinquish power of the purse Apart from police and railways every other power is devolved already We're just not serious
No most things still passes through the center...Education for instance( Elementary and universities) |

MIKOLOWISKA:I certainly don't know. But psychologically, we tend sweet talk anything we want. Politicians promise heaven and earth but don't deliver when they get to their elected position. Its not their fault. They're carried away by the popularity and monetary gain they get. To answer your question well, if am to become the president, which I don't even pray for, I will do worse because I can't rule Nigeria. Am not downgrading myself. Its just the truth. Nigeria needs a stubborn but generous leader who understands the Nigerian needs and how to give them despite the hardship he/she faces. No Nigerian has had this. We all are looking for where we will eat and get satisfied |

MIKOLOWISKA: wow that's nice but do you think privatisation benefits the common man. a corporation will always first look for profit and if the best way to get profit is at the expense of the common man then so be it. its even worse in Nigeria where it is so easy to subvert the institutions. if you think I'm lying just research why our mining sector is in the doldrums. in the area of education more educated people means an enlightened populace which would mean more people willing to resolve arguments by debates rather than force of arms but more importantly it will encourage innovations |

EternalTruths: most of their leaders are unimaginative and would rather want a quick and easy source of cash . do you know that the northern states have arable land for cotton and wheat combine this with the population and mineral potential of some states and you could have an economic powerhouse ( that's if the reports are not false). also I never said it was easy. in fact if there is one thing universal is that people would rather not pay tax no matter how little it is. the major problems I believe the north has is lack of education and religious tension/intolerance |

Re: How Would You Fix Nigeria If You Were The President? by Dsov2016: 10:17am On Jan 03, 2018 |
MIKOLOWISKA: let me tell you do you really think I would contest or plan to become president and change this country without stacking the deck in my favor. such has been tried in other nations and it ended either in civil war or the death of the leader. I would simply campaign to make sure that at least a third of the legislature are like minded individuals. again the guy u re replying to made a damn good point striking indiscriminately without a purpose. while I was in secondary school some who were 3-4 yrs ahead had gone to the uni, I had graduated and these guys were still in uni(4 yr courses). our education system is still in the doldrums due to this and I can even make a case saying this has also affected our health care. what also gives doctors the right to go on strike(this is an essential service) hundreds if not thousands die anytime this medical personnel go on strike which is a gross violation of their Hippocratic oaths. we should stop the misinterpretation. under the right circumstances socialism can and will work and even endure for a long time. capitalism is not the be all and end all . |
Re: How Would You Fix Nigeria If You Were The President? by Dsov2016: 10:31am On Jan 03, 2018 |
MIKOLOWISKA: Indian can hardly manage its population due to its large size, terrain and uneducated rural dwellers who are the large contribution to its pop problem. China needed large pop to replace its loss in ww2 and later it got out of hand now they are managing it as best as possible. a largely educated population will see the need to resolve disagreements with violence reduced and would also see the birth of innovations and inventions. do you realise that the ethnicity and religious tolerance we see at play can be largely attributed to the lack of education. also why do you see the need to privatize everything. capitalism is all well and good in certain aspects but in others not so much. Nigeria is not yet advanced for the level of privatisation you are talking about as the institutions to checkmate excesses can easily be subvert . just research on our mining system and deals with Indians and Lebanese and you will realise so, if that is to much work for you look at our power sector. until you realise that privatization/capitalism is the corporation first the population a distant third then you will realise. in fact just look at America's slow transition to corporatocracy and then you will reject such a system anyway I am not advocating for full on government control but its control in some key and vital sectors also taxation done wrongly can do what you say but if done correctly it can be used as an incentive to increase production. |

EternalTruths: if there is one thing about the north then its there clear hierarchy, terrible for direct rule but great for indirect rule. simply convince their traditional rulers and religious leaders that it would be be better for them to have their own source of income than to be beholden to others for food |

MIKOLOWISKA: let me put it this way. for example I want to become the governor of my state because I feel I can move it forward but there is a problem I do not have 2million to get a form where as our constitution says that I can vote or be voted for . is that not a way of locking large segments of the population away from one half of the democratic process. a party usually gets by from donations of its members and that's why they have an ideology to appeal to prospective members. also how do I vote for the guards via big wigs? wow China rules by the barrel of the gun yet its outpacing the bastion of democracy. and to your point about having those system I would say no we do not. a good workman will be a bad workman if the tools are bad. what I am saying and will continue to reiterate is that we need to find a system that will work for us. |

Dsov2016:Nobody cares what you feel Just what you do. I can move it forward but there is a problem I do not have 2million to get a form where as our constitution says that I can vote or be voted forwill you campaign or not Full page newspaper ad is 1 million a day You will advertise in ur to 15 publications weekly at least for 6 months that's already half a billio If you can't raise 2 mill you're not leadership material . is that not a way of locking large segments of the population away from one half of the democratic process.Nobody was locked out They are not worthy a party usually gets by from donations of its members and that's why they have an ideology to appeal to prospective members. So why don't you form Your Own party and give out form for free Or get ppl to donate to you You must be able to convince them that you're worth it You vote for president President supervises guards If you vote against bad guards big wigs will adjust But most ppl don't care about guards they're only interest is rice and wrapper. because China becoming more capitalist While America becoming more socialist(gun barrelly) and to your point about having those system I would say no we do not.you lie Good workman will find a way Borrow tools or fix tools
the system doesn't matter The people do We've tried all systems and failed. Dsov2016:Liberia has a small population What's your point Size doesn't matter Except maybe in war or voting it's how you use it America is educated yet they settle everything with violence and would also see the birth of innovations and inventions. do you realise that the ethnicity and religious tolerance we see at play can be largely attributed to the lack of education.Agreed Although it depends on the education You can educate ppl to be racist in fact only you can only educate ppl to become racist Name one govt business that is better than private Nope efficient Cheaper capitalism is all well and good in certain aspects but in others not so much. It is best in every supply and demand situation Govt can only regulate and they don't even do that well Nigeria is not yet advanced for the level of privatisation you are talking about as the institutions to checkmate excesses can easily be subvert .Says who Some failed politician or economic professors? When will we be advanced You don't get advanced by not starting Private is better everytime, everytime just research on our mining system and deals with Indians and Lebanese and you will realise so,What is wrong with Indians and Lebanese They are producing what govt couldn't do for 60 yrs That's advantage of capitalism if that is to much work for you look at our power sector. until you realise that privatization/ The distribution companies are working Generation is working Gas pipeline and transmission that is govt hands always has problem. capitalism is the corporation first the population a distant third then you will realise. The corporation provides good services in order to become first To survive But govt doesn't even need ppl to survive in fact just look at America's slow transition to corporatocracyCorporatocracy is socialism not capitalism
and then you will reject such a system anyway I am not advocating for full on government control but its control in some key and vital sectors also taxation done wrongly can do what you say but if done correctly it can be used as an incentive to increase production.[/govt will never tire of taxing you to buy expensive things we don't need.
