LEICESTER are prepared to let flop striker Kelechi Iheanacho leave – even if it means making a loss on the £25million (about N10billion) striker.
Iheanacho
And he was only given a 10-minute runout against League One minnows Fleetwood in a 0-0 draw on Saturday.
A well-placed source said: “The problem is Kelechi is earning around £115,000-a-week (N48million) on a five-year deal and no club will currently want to take him on those wages.
“So Leicester might have to let him go for a lot cheaper than they paid for him if they decide to sell now.”
The 21-year-old forward blasted seven goals in nine starts for Man City last season and Pep Guardiola was reluctant to see the Nigerian leave last summer.
But things have gone badly for Iheanacho, who has made just two Premier League starts, scoring just once in the EFL Cup.
Speaking after the 0-0 draw with Fleetwood – a game which Leicester failed to have a shot on target, Puel said: “I think Kelechi is a young player and he needs to improve aspects of his play. “Also it is difficult because he is a player behind Jamie Vardy and it means he doesn’t get many opportunities.”
Shinji Okazaki is also playing well, so it is difficult for him.
“He works hard on the pitch and in the training sessions and he needs to continue.
“I hope he can have some game time in the future.”
Newcastle, Stoke, West Ham and Swansea were all chasing Iheanacho in the summer, but are unlikely to want to pay his wages.
Man City also have a buyback clause in the deal, which allows them to get first refusal on the player for a fee of £50million.

I saw this coming that moment when he signed for man city.
The father should look for a culb for him now.

Imaging at age 21 is career is going down. If he had sign for the Portugal culb, he would have had time to develop better than this, and be hot in the market.
Anyway am not sorry for him, because he has made money, he should come back home and opening a SHOP in ABA if no culb is interested in him.

The move to Man City was a very very wrong step. Stalled his development as a player. He should downgrade to championship, work on his strength as a striker and make the move back up.

i don't think moving to man city is kelechi's problem because even after moving he made name for himself at city before leaving. The major thing I see in him is just that he's NOT COMPETITIVE enough and he seem to be VERY LAZY. Guardiola had this complain about him and this is the same thing Puel is talking about. He is a very young player, he can still make a better career for himself only if he's willing to make the necessary sacrifices. I remember how man city and man united fans compare who's better between him and rashford, but no one is arguing about that these days cry

Kelechi's main strength is positioning, a striker cannot strive on that alone. He needs to improve on his holdup play, close ball control and raw power. Vardy, slimani and okazaki are better in this aspects. He can't even play effectively from the wings. Not with demarai gray, mahrez in the team. Even with schlupp gone.

Hate is never part if it my brother, but PAIN. So pls watch it.
He never made anything in man city, what he did was to run faster than is destiny.
Can u imaging how hot he would have been now, with all the playing chance and opportunity he would have gotten in Portugal

Early rise - Early Fall. Soccer Managers, you definitely know this kind of players, it is time to let him go. besides any that much not to make the bench is condescending for a player in his ranks. Ihenacho would have been a better player if started in holland, portugal or belguim. Starting his career at Man City was a missed shot.

i don't believe you. he was a better player at man city before gardiola came. he choose g.jesus a head of iheanacho. at leicester, they have bigger players but the current coach is impatient, give him more time he will perform.

You guys don’t no nothing about soccer. Iheanacho move to city was a great career move for him. Why? He gained fame, personal success and money. Do you remember that iheanacho was the highest minutes per game striker under pellegrini?? Well, if you don’t know now you know. I believe that his performance regressed under guardiola and afterwards things hasn’t been the bet for him at club sides. However, we should always remember that iheanacho performance for super eagles has been consistent and for that reason he will still gets called up. I see that the boy is now a good freekick take a trait learned at club. Also, natcho needs to add other aspects to his game and he should be fine

Ihenacho to G. Jesus, Jesus is a raw talent, any coach will choose G. Jesus ahead of Ihenacho. Even if you make Genat Rohr manager of man city and Nigeria, he will still choose G. Jesus. Impatient you say for someone earning over a hunderrd thousand pounds per week.
