Today, the Base Event Center at Independence Layout Enugu is currently filled to capacity by prominent citizens of the South-East and South West Geopolitical zones of Nigeria as the historic #HandShakeAcrossTheNiger kicks off.

Eminent personalities gracing the event include but not limited to Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah,Chairman, Local Organising Committee of the event,Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe,Chief Olu Falae,former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, former First Lady, Lady Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi,President General, Ohanaeze Ndịgbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, Senator Eyinanya Abaribe, former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-kayode, Afenifere spokesman, Dr. Yinka Odunmakin, among others.

"Handshake Across The Niger" is an initiative of Nzuko Umunna, an Igbo Think Tank Group.

The event is meant to consolidate the economic and political relationships of Igbos and Yorubas.
