This happened in my kitchen this morning. What does it imply? Caretaker says he will call in a bricklayer to work on it. Is this something that can be fixed?
I want to know if it's still safe to live in the flat. My rent is due next month. I need your advice.

We can't judge the structural stability from just this picture

but I can say when the slab was casted there wasn't room for concrete cover there...

hence the exposure of the reinforcement bars..

concrete cover protects the reinforcement bars from chemical attacks, rust, Fire...

so be sacred not if its covered...it is safe (my 2 cents)

I see nothing to worry about
It is as a result of inadequate concrete cover
A bricklayer will cover it up

Has it been there before or it just came up recently?
