The Ooni of Ife, Oba Eniola Ogunwusi and the newly installed Aare Onakakanfo, Chief Gani Adams are two of the finest yoruba personalities currently holding top traditional titles in Yorubaland. They are both young, educated and highly charismatic; while the Ooni is a chartered accountant & buinessman with vast interest in real estate, the Aare Onakakanfo is a security expert and co-founder of the famous Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) who holds bachelors degree in History & Strategic Studies from Lagos State University.

Given their profile and common interest, one would have expected these leading yoruba figures to be well-bonded and be seen together very often in the public space. Well since the announcement of Adams as the yoruba generallismo (ie Aare onakakando), we have seen him going everywhere to pay homage except the Ooni's palace and to further strengthen this suspicion, the Ooni was conspicuously absent at the installation of Adams some forthnight ago at an elaborate ceremony that had prominent yoruba leaders in attendance.

The big question is what is happening between the Ooni & Aare Onakakanfo?....could it be that some secret supremacy battle is currently raging between these leading yoruba traditional figures?

Oct 23, 2017 - The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Monday played host to the new Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, urging him to use his new position to right the wrongs in Yorubaland. The monarch also described Mr. Adams, leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress, as the right choice for the position.
