Members of staff of the Otunba Tunwase National Paediatric Centre along the Benin/Sagamu expressway, Ijebu Ode under the management of the University of Ibadan on Wednesday 24 January 2018 protested what they call total neglect by the University authorities.

Salaries and other allowances have not been paid for months and their employment have not been regularized even after they have worked for four years under the direct employment of the University.

To add insult to injury, the University authorities and the management Board under the chairmanship of the provost of the College of Medicine, Professor Oluwabunmi Olapade-Olaopa have not been forth coming with any information. They have remained silent for months leaving the workers in total despair and uncertainty.

This necessitated the peaceful protest by the workers, who have continued to work despite unpaid 3 months salaries and 12 months earned allowances as well as total neglect by the University authorities. The concerned authorities should please do the needful.

Not so sir. You can watch the video and see the bold faces. There is nothing to hide.

Just like you noted, this hospital has been instrumental in saving many lives especially that of neonates and pregnant women. It's suppose to be a world class paediatric centre.

What a Nation!

Nigeria is becoming so hopeless, futureless and useless on daily basis. It is sad to know that despite the level of unemployment in the country a Federal Government Agency still derive pleasure in staff losing their jobs. While I sympathize with friends and family of staff of University of Ibadan College of Medicine Otunba Tunwase National Paediatric Centre Sagamu/Benin Expressway, Ijebu - Ode who lost their jobs on Thursday 8th February, 2018, I equally call on well meaning Nigerians who could to be of help to these innocent members of staff who have made lot of sacrifices for that hospital to be the best in Ijebu-Ode and its environs.

Otunba Tunwase National Paediatric Centre was owned by an Ijebu Icon Otunba Subomi Balogun before he transferred the ownership to University Of Ibadan free of charge some years ago hence UI inherited both Assets and Liabilities of the hospital. Fact had it that as at the time of handing over to the University of Ibadan no staff is owed a single kobo so University of Ibadan inherited in totality the assets of the hospital which includes the dedicated members of staff.

Staff problems started since University of Ibadan took over, restructuring today reapplying tomorrow to the point of not paying salaries for about four (4) months under the pretense of restructuring. As at 20th of December, 2017, while many Nigerians were in festive mood, Staff of University of Ibadan College of Medicine Otunba Tunwase National Paediatric Centre were in low mood as the last salary paid to them was September, 2017 until the former owner intervened that his people must not celebrate the new year empty handed and a month salary was released to them towards the end of December 2017.
The worst happened on Thursday when sack letters were issued to the staff and armed police officers were deployed there to chase staff out of their respective offices and twenty (20) days ultimatum was given to those in staff quarters to vacate while the management is still owing the staff November 2017, December 2017, January and February 2018 salaries.
deir is godu oooooo.
