It seems the square mast on the t72 CIA is a battlefield surveillance radar.

@CaptainStephen
thanks bro, I wonder how they installed the consoles considering space is limited inside.

T72/90 tanks have cramped interiors but I believe a tablet sized console can just be installed. The tanks were locally upgraded where many of the Russian equipments were replaced with local ones which led to more available space.it will require a tablet sized console and the processing LRU only. The LRU will be shoe box sized.

What I am more concerned is from where r they getting the power to run the radar.

The radar is small sized so power requirements will be small , but still with 760 something hp engine which is inadequate for the present needs, it will be stretched, unless they had installed the locally upgraded 1000hp engine.

In the end I want to clarify that still it is not 100 % confirmed that it is a Surveillance radar. It could be IFF or something else or all the above grin

Arjun tanks had a conformal composite box on the left frontal side with a circular hole, where it was rumoured it was carrying a radar along with laser equipments to support launch and guidance of cannon launched guided missile.The millimetre band radar system mounted on the turret is said to be capable of operating as a Missile Approach Warning System (MAWS) and also has a Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) and radar jammer.

And Arjun had a powerful external APU to run these equipments including the tank in silent mode with the engine shut.

So chances r high that the tech from Arjun was ported to t72. Or maybe they got it from Israel , hell too much maybe's grin

First look At DRDO's Gallium Nitride (GaN) Based embedded panels and technologies.

This is going to give a big boost to radar development.
A commercial foundry was also set up I believe.
