Hello house, please I need advice.

I went for an evacuation procedure on Monday to remove any remnants of placenta from inside and I was given antibiotics and painkillers. The antibiotics was just to prevent infections from the procedure.

I noticed on the second day of taking the antibiotics that my babies stooling seemed to have increased to like 6 times a day from about three times before I started the antibiotics.

I checked online and sure enough the info there said that antibiotics makes babies have diarrhea.

I stopped the drugs immediately to avoid harming him. So yesterday I started feeling pains on my lower pelvis and I dunno what the cause was. I really hope it isn't an infection due to my stopping the drugs.

Please if anyone has any alternative precautions I can take to prevent infections which does not affect babies I would really appreciate your replies. Thanks.

My baby is less than three weeks old.

You shouldnt have stopped, the stool would have evened out. I guess you were given augmentin and flagyl. Pls call your doctor and suggest cefuroxime, it doesnt cause diarrhoea as much as augmentin. Evacuation is not a small thing, it's an invasive procedure so you need urgent antibiotic cover. All the best

Did she just start going to that school? has she attended any other school apart from the one being spoken about?

Has there been any complaints from her teachers? you need to always ask about a report of how your daughter fared in school each day when you pick her up.this will help you know what you need to work on.

How does she behave when she gets home too. Do you ask her questions so she can narrate her experience. You need to ascertain she's not bullied or belittled.

You need to ensure that you build a strong communication link with her so she gets fond of telling you everything.

cc.zaynie..iya teacher, come and chuk mouth when you are less busy

Thanks. She just begun schooling there. First school. She's 21 months. So we can't 'communicate' like that. No complaints from her teacher. Once we step out of the school, she's already singing with me. Plus she's very playful at home, her normal self.

How old is she? Ask the teacher some questions because that is what you pay them for
If she can talk, play with her more when you get home and communicate more with her. Also, when did you notice this and for how long has this been going on?

She's 21months. I'll definitely ask the teacher. Since she resumed, I've always found her alone, while other kids are playing. I think I only saw her once playing with them. But like what exactly would I ask the teacher? "Aunty why is she always alone?". PS I feel if a child doesn't want to play or is keeping to herself, the teacher should help in helping her let loose. The day they were all taking a selfie round the teachers table she was alone on her seat. A 'normal' teacher would at least call her or try to carry her. It just feels somehow to me. And I can't ask "auntie, why isn't she taking a pic?" or maybe jokingly.

awww...I guess she's still trying to adjust to the new faces and their mode of teaching/playing in the school.
In spite of that, speak with her teacher to know how she has been responding to her new environment. That should guide your next line of action.

lovely regards to your princess.

She should be playing with other children unless she get this type of behavior from one of you(parent) who keep to him/herself too.

You can ask tell the aunt that:

1. You noticed she is not always playing the way she usually do

2. You noticed a changes in her behavioral way

3. You noticed that( you site some occasion where you met them playing and she is keeping to herself alone) ask her why that

4. You will plead that she should try and encourage your girl to always be part of the playing group and give her more attention.

If no changes please report to the school authority

Also, from your own side ma, communicate with her more often( Ask her about her school, food she ate, her friend et al). Play with her, sing with her and if there is anything like quarrel going on in the house that she may be affected with, try as much as possible not to let her be involve( That is if there is) Just saying and thinking out loud ma.

I wee ask anyhow anyhow. Your instincts tells you sth is not right as a mother so you need to follow it until proven otherwise.

The teacher owes you an explanation. I'm quite surprised sef that the teacher has not mentioned anything to you since she's even new in their midst.

The teacher might try to cover up her own shortcomings but make sure you catch the salient points and read between the lines too.

Evening to all our lovely mums in the house. I belong to an Abuja mums on facebook, someone sent in the most heart breaking story I have heard or read in recent times.
Mums, a school bus went up in flames at Lugbe in Abuja with children inside. It was said that two children died instantly while another three died from the burns at the hospital.
Now the story is according to oda women who commented on the post, that schl bus was old and rickety and the bus was always broken down( had issues) on the road.
Pls as parents let's b vigilant abt schl services, before enrolling ur wards in any schl pls inspect d schl bus and from time to time interact with our wards asking them abt d driver behaviour (if he speeds) and if d bus always develops faults. All dis private schls owners like to cut costs all d time so it is our duty to b vigilant.

Pls if one can avoid d schl buses sef, pls do avoid dem o. I mean my younger brother was once involved in a schl bus accident when he was in sec. Schl. It was God dat save him schl mates were badly injured.

PS: pls if u see a schl bus with issues either very old and rickety or always having mechanic issues or the driver is speeding, even if ur little one doesn't attend the schl. Pls try and report to the schl authorities or road safety/ VIO.

May God keep our liitle ones for us.

I think you shouldn't have discontinued the antibiotics without consulting your doctor. They obviously know you are breastfeeding and would have considered it in the choice of drug, if it however was affecting your baby an alternative would be provided. Still speak to the doctor cos you also need to be fine.

Thank you ma. I'm a very reserved person. I guess she got it from me. Cos once we step out of the school, we both start singing and laughing. She likes to turn the house upside down. My family doesn't 'fight' at all. Report to school authority? That one go hard me? lol. Thanks a lot

You should go back to the hospital let the doctor place you on a fresh antibiotic. Feed your baby first and then express breastmilk right before taking it. Then by 4hrs the potency of the drugs would have reduced then you can feed and then express again before taking the one for afternoon.

It's not good to stop antibiotic after a minor or major surgery.

If you keen on massaging his body then do it carefully. The hand gently to his back so he can wash his back when grown. Place him on your thighs and his back facing you. Raise his two legs to almost get to his butt 3times. Use a towel and gently press his body.

I will advice you let an experienced person handle it.

I think the antibiotics last for about 48hrs in my system even if I express milk my baby will finish it within 48 hrs and I will have to express again in that time frame. I know the drugs last so long because my pee and even breast milk smells of antibiotics for the next day after I stopped taking them.

I will start the drugs again.
