So i just opened my gtbank apps dis morning to do some transactions den i saw dis..... well d tin b say we no need to go to church befor we can pay our tithe offering. but got my attention was the caption MERCHANT, sp church don become merchant, wetin dem dy sell for church. i cover my face. i yam ashame. Nairalanders wetin be ur view on dis. i wonder wetin daddy freeze go yan about dis.

we should be able to understand that a church or mosque is not just a body again but an organization. and there is absolutely nothing wrong with an organisation registering as a merchant.
this would even enable low key payments that would not attract unnecessary attention.

bro, u are wrong by sayin mosque is an organization... as friend of mine will always say IF U BUILD MOSQUE FOR PROFIT MAKING DEN YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. But please do u know d meaning of the word MERCHANT? hmmmm

i meant that there is nothing wrong with having a 'merchant account' whc would enable payment to be easily made with credit or debit cards..
but i still maintain my fact that a mosque is an organization whc is not aimed at monetizing people because of their belief..(s.). but to organize them for one purpose.
after.all, Non Governmental organizations are not for profit making

As usual RCCG takes the lion share. If it is hasn't occurred to you by now that RCCG it just a business venture I don't know when it would.

In your first comment you said one thing now you're saying an entirely different thing.
1) there's no such thing as a "merchant account" a merchant is someone who trades in commodities produced by others.
2) churches and MOSQUES are registered as charities.
If according to you mosques "don't monetize people because of their belief" I don't see why churches should.
3) there's is everything wrong for a church to operate this way because now the pressure is more on their members. How you may ask? If you don't have cash you can pay using your account, let's say am saving the money in my account for something important and I keep seeing my church "merchant account" whenever I opened my account I maybe forced to "rob Peter to pay Paul".
