Ummah Care for the Inmates Foundation (UCIF) is a Muslim Charity. As one of the few NGO that specifically focuses on reaching out to inmates, By the grace of Almighty Allah, UCIF is committed to ensuring that every penny donated reaches its envisioned destination (i.e Inmates in Nigerian Prisons). As one of the Muslim Charity Organizations, UCIF also ensures that Islamic guidelines are adhered to in all aspects of the work of the charity.

Ummah Care for the Inmates Foundation (UCIF) is a Nigeria-based relief and development charity. Inspired by the Islamic teachings of empathy, generosity and selflessness, the trust aims to alleviate the super-suffering of inmates in Nigerian prison, educate the inmates on matters of Islam/Tawheed (i.e Oneness of Allah), empower the inmates, secure the bail/freedom of inmates and provide post-prison mentorship to the inmates. 


This is achieved by:


Providing basic items, such as food and medical aid, to inmates and their families who have no one to cater for their daily needs.Sponsoring inamtes and ensuring that their human rights are fulfilled.Reconstructing and maintaining homes, masjids and schools in various prisons.Implementing income generation projects.

Guided by Islamic teachings values, we envisage a caring world where inmates are empowered, societal responsibilities are fulfilled, and people feel the pain/hardship of those in confinement. To positively touch the the lives of inmates in all prisons in the Federation. 


*Our Mission*


Demonstrating our Islamic ideals, we will assemble resources in unison and develop local capacity, as we work to:


Enable sound Islamic knowledge for the inmates and aggregate environment.Provide the basic needs (i.e food, clothing etc) to Nigerian Prisons.Promote post-prison development with a focus on sustainable livelihoods for the freed inmates.


We distribute these resources regardless of race, political affiliation or gender, and without expecting anything in return.

We are persistently guided by the eternal values and teachings of the Qur’an and the (Sunnah), most explicitly:


Honesty (Ikhlas) - Our works are solely fueled by sincerity to Allah alone and to seek His pleasure.Goodness (Khayr) – Our activities in embarking upon this rare projects are marked by goodness in our operations and the manner through which we assist the inmates.Kindness (Rahma) – We have faith in the rebirth of every life, and its dominant position and we shall partner with other humanitarian and benevolent  actors to act as one in answering to the suffering of Nigerian inmates.Societal Fairness (Adl) – Our efforts are initiated on empowering institutions to fulfil the rights of the defenseless (i.e inmates) through social reform. We work to empower the freedom-limited ones toward realising their God-given freedom and enhance their potentialities for the betterment of the world.Trust (Amana) – We uphold the trust people put in us as a philanthropic and charity NGO to be duly transparent and accountable in all means.


Our Reach: Oyo State, Niger State, Kwara State and Lagos State. Plans are on ground to reach the remaining 32 States and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja soon, In Shaa Allah.


There are more than 5,000 inmates to cater for in Niger ,Kwara ,Lagos and Oyo State.
