But is it not wrong to deploy customs officers to creeks without sufficient military backup? Because in my opinion, customs are just civilians even if they carry guns. They are not well trained in gun fighting. RIP though.

he is not dead bro. Every armed paramilitary personnel is well trained in arms. This can happen to even the military.

A customs official have been butchered while on duty in one of the creeks in Nigeria.

According to NGHUBS, the customs official was butchered while trying to stop a daredevil smuggler trying to smuggle a vehicle through one of the creeks.

A customs official told NGHUBS that this is one of the hazards of the duties of the customs officials, adding that some get wounded while some get killed.

This guy should have try to avoid this nasty attack on him because those guys doing the illicit business are very dangerous beside Nigeria is not country to die for at the ebd his wife and kids will be in hot soup henceforth.

so why not just replace the entire custom men with soldiers to keep these smuggled goods permanently off our borders.

We also need to replace the police with military men as they are civilians too and aren’t trained to use guns very well.

Thank you for the comment. If only people know what these custom thieves do at the boarders. Obviously the guy got injured while arguing or fighting for his own share that maybe the smugglers didn't agree to. They all work hand in hand. It's so bad that customs have prices for smuggling through their routes and its paid directly to the customs office.

The attack was done out of frustration. The criminal knew he has lost the car then attacked the custom man as an act of revenge. The smuggler has just dug his grave. He will surely be apprehended.

The problem is not the butchered guy, are we seeing the rusty slab on which he's being attended even with that very open and gory wound?

Is that arm safe with the kind of emergency treatment he's receiving? Hopefully his time isn't wasted in that crooked clinic/hospital enough add bigger problems through infection.

Health system in Nigeria is zero, almost nothing works.
