Its your fellow brother and sisters that advertises wares on Jumia. In a country where virtually everyone has induced CORRUPT practices in their business, why should you be surprised to get a low quality goods advertised as High quality.

Sometimes the owners of this wears don't have stock of the goods marketed Online, yet they keep advertising it causing you the buyer to wait endlessly for the goods to arrive.

Let's not forget that some people too have been fraudulent towards Jumia. It has been reported severally, incidents where Jumia Delivery Man got robbed (Pay on Delivery).

You forgot to add loss they incur by their carelessness like when they send another person's item to wrong person altogether.

You also forgot to add that the Chinese are fraudulent too but Aliexpress have been able to manage them by their robust buyer protection. Sellers don't mess up and go Scot free. Here Jumia is encouraging sellers to do sharp practices. They don't show negative review.

BUT I was happy when it arrived My state and was waiting for delivery, I didnt go to office for 3 days to wait on JUMIA ghost "home delivery" pay on delivery service... TO MY SHOCK i kept getting sms and mails daily that they would be coming so I should be waiting.... then I went to their office and discovered a fooool there who returned my packaged because HE "tried" to come to deliver it but was not able to..... The number JUMIA sent me was OFF and he had a new number and with Pride he told me he had returned it. If it was not pay on delivery, I would have slapped him but I left it and swore NEVER to use JUMIA again. I would rather import at cheaper rate and wait a bit longer in peace.

Nothing like switching. Global is overseas sellers, Market/Local are sellers in Lagos, Express are items in Jumia warehouse.

Jumia matter tire person. Even gearbest that used to be reliable, is gradually becoming a scam. Ordered for items since January.., shipped on 4th of same month. Up till now, hasn't been delivered. Everyday one story or another. Aliexpress is pretty good, but delivery time be the matter.

This new marketplace runs on a review system...positive, neutral, negative the whole shebang. It uses the exact same rating system used by ebay. Take care of your customers or get poor ratings which leads to a bad reputation. See link below and in my signature for more details.

One thing about most Nigerians is that y'all don't read Terms and Conditions. In jumia's terms and conditions, they don't do cash refunds on some items. Instead they give you a voucher equivalent to the price of the item you returned. From the OP's narrative, he has been given that voucher, he is asking for compensation. My guy you tey for ground.

Terms and conditions that they themselves don't adhere to! Haven't you read that people who ordered in November haven't received their item not got refund? That too is captured in the terms and conditions.

Just imagine this scenerio:
this man saw a phone on several site for 1 naira and decides to shop with Jumia. Jumia sent him bad phone and he returned it. Jumia processed and refund him in voucher after 3 months for 1 naira after the price had gone up to 2 naira. Who should bear the extra cost? It's just logical that Jumia should send the right item. That's what Aliexpress does. If this young man doesn't have the extra cash to add up the voucher expire in 3 months.

Meanwhile, if you have more than one voucher, you can't combine them in one order. Two of my voucher has 100 naira in each case and that's because I even tried to use it to buy products I didn't need.

Their business philosophy is just so wrong.

That's how JUMIA Scammed me. I bought a phone(Huawei Y7 Prime 2019) at 60K. After waiting for 5 days and not receiving a shipping notification I called them only to find out that the item was out of stock, and it was in stock when I ordered. They canceled the order and refunded my money.

The next day I checked and saw the phone on their website, but this time the price had gone up to 76K. I ordered it and it was delivered. After delivery, I checked their website again only to find out that the price had gone down to 60K again.

I called them to complain but they said there was nothing they could do about it. That's how I spent (wasted) an extra 16K for nothing. Jumia is simply the worst shopping site in existence.

Fast forward to today I ordered 2 items on the 23rd at the same time
They stupidly gave one item to dhl and the other to FedEx instead of sending both through one courier.
DHL gave me the first item, 2nd item since the 23rd was just handed to FedEx yesterday after giving me a fake FedEx tracking id.

Nigeria is not developed enough to implement online shopping fully (except in places like Lagos or Abuja), even here in the states we do have issues with orders (tho we don't do pay on delivery trash) our system here is Made in such a way that you can return items if defective at some extra cost tho, but op you should learn to avoid cheap products there are some prices we will see here in US and ignore because it's too good to be true and trust me it always is lol

You should've just accepted a full refund to your acc than confusing their customer service, they did their best.... if you were in their position you'll be surprised at the number of annoying people that call in per day over minor issues and like someone said they were confused because you said you wanted the same item to which the price had doubled, they can't resend the item cos Jumia themselves barely sell on their website (just like Amazon or eBay) so they offered you a voucher thinking maybe you'll add money and make a purchase of that same item later



My advice if you don't know anything about online shopping especially in that shit hole keep off and buy your item locally

Shortly after dis conclusion, now Jan.31, d mail I received frm Jumia was captioned "Request resolved" with N16,815 voucher indicated. Confused about content of d mail as to whether dis voucher is in addition to my money (N16,815) which is to be be refunded or my money has just been refunded without any compensation, I sent several mails to Jumia to clarify issues but no response any more frm them.

Since I'm not hearing anything frm jumia again, by Feb.8-2018 I decided to call d Customer Care but to my greatest surprise, I was told that d N16,815 is simply my money money Jumia had just returned.

Now d questions are:
. In dis acclaimed returned N16,815 where is d promised voucher compensation?
. Atleast to protect her integrity, is N4,785 voucher too much for jumia to bear having unduly tied down a buyer's money for over 2 months?
. Could dis be sufficient reason why Jumia would not respond to my mails for clarifications?
. Does dis act not contravene d terms of d contract? I paid cash (frm my card) to buy, why should my money be converted to voucher?
. With whose consent was d money return in a way of voucher? Must I be compelled to use my money again on their platform?
. So any authorized online seller, like Jumia could hold buyers monies to ransom for more than 2 months without any compensation?
. Is our government really regulating d excesses of these sellers?
. If dis is d way Jumia holds down many Nigerians monies, can u imagine surplus illegal funds that will be available in Jumia coffers floating her business.
