Please dnt read like u're under pressure, or dt u must understand wah u're reading instantly. Dnt read like u want to b better than others or in competition with someone. Read like u're the only student in that class, free your mind of being competitive. U can also have 1 or 2 reading mates. Ask questions, dnt feel like u know it all. And dnt always read, make a schedule, read, pray and play.

Read a page or topic pause ask yourself what you have learnt. Try explaining what you read to yourself as if you are teaching someone else. Anywhere you have difficulties go back and read and still explain to yourself again.

Then ask yourself a question what are the possible questions to come from this page or topic. Write them down then answer it one after the other. During your exam you will see most of those questions . try this and thank me later

Engage in discussion class groups. Those groups can help tremendously. Also involve older colleagues to teach you. Get involved in tutorials also.

I was actually once in your shoe, i ended with 2.5 or so in my 100L after which i had to sit myself down and think of the way forward. See the thing is knowing the best time to assimilate whatever materials you have be it written or recording. After i got right the best time for me infact i do play throughout the day and slept in the night till like 4am in the morning. Then i only read for like 2 hours i.e between 4am and 6am and i'm done. Whatever i read during the 2hrs periods sinks. Tho atimes i read for fun during the day, if i understand good and if i don't no problem

As much as believe we are different and there is difference in assimilation, Its not about having to read 24/7 or sleep in the library just try and get it right with the best time you can read, understand and assimilate very well. Read and make a note for yourself. Start reading your own jottings and things will change.

Infact there was a semester i didnt go to most of the classes and believe me i had the best GPA ever, almost 5.0. I only copied notes from classmates and read normally. I graduated with a strong 2.1, i mean strong 2.1.

It was not easy as I had pressures from home and even friends.I went through serious depression and that only made studying worse at a time.I started seeing changes in my result from 300-500 level but i still ended up with a 2:2.Do you have any other thing you can do?Do not put too much hopes on your your studies getting you a job after later in life etc.But the gifts of a man makes way for him.We all went to school thinking it was the only path towards uplifting our finances but why do uneducated people defy that.Bro it was not easy just keep faith alive your more than those words that would be written on your certificate.find other areas of your life that can give you what your degree can And don't forget getting a job now is like taking the stairways of heaven to the nearest chemist so be thinking of what next to do after 300lv.if a job is your sole motive for studying hard and or wanting to get a financial lift do away with it.Nigeria is no longer that way.

My simple Advice: Ask if the lecturer was the same who took the course in previous years, if yes... go get past questions use it as your reading guide. answer past questions in a note for all your courses then read the answers along with new things the lecturer might say. This works every time especially in Nigeria public University.

Your head dey there...... This is the most simplest way to pass exams with average good grades in most Nigerian public schools. Just take time to look for past questions form your seniors and answer them by reading from textbooks or handouts in a big notebook and continue to read that answered questions every day until exams come coupled with the normal lectures, handouts information and you are good to go. IT WORKED FOR ME FOR DURING MY NCE & DEGREE PROGRAMS.

u need to change tge system of ur reading. reading all the time doesn't guarantee ur A's for the semester. ability to interpret question and answer matters alot.

Maybe your problem is you read too much.
1. Pray, I don't mean just going to church or going to church always, I mean your personal relationship with God... before you read pray, before you write exam or test fast and pray even if its just to 12noon.
2. Read, know when you assimilate well, some assimilate well early morning some in the night. The environment matters also, some love noisy area, some quite area and some love listening to music while reading or calculating. Above all, when you notice that your brain capacity is full and you're no long understanding or comprehending it again, just close your book for that day and rest or go out and have fun, if not diminishing return will start to happen.
3. Above all other points above, know that its not by your power or by how much you read. Its God. Do you best and leave the rest in Gods hands.

Understanding ur lecturers matters alot. Ask abt Dem from ur predicesors and dance to their tune. eg
Some lecturers needs la cram la pour while others may need detailed explanation in ur own understanding, some may need sorting, which ever way they want, just follow the norm and don't come out with 3rd class.

It is unfortunate that this is happening to you. Its can be depressing but help is on the way. Perhaps it has to do with your application of obtained knowledge from materials. Don't be too verbose or brief in your answers. Also watch the demands of your lecturers to know exactly what they expect from you. Do they demand exactly what they give you during lectures or a good additions? Always collects past questions from senior colleagues and prepare adequately before exams start. Improve on your presentation and don't feel ashamed to ask your class mates that are scoring the 'A's. Gather vital information from different sources and present them in an irresistible manner. That way your grades will improve!

1. Don't ever miss any class.
2. Always sit on the front row in class and take notes in class.
3. Start preparing for exams NOW (1st day of lectures). Do not wait till exam period to start studying. (Please note: I am not asking that you read 24/7, just start your reading early and be consistent)
4. Make sure you finish the syllabus pali to pali (back to back)
5. Have a reading timetable and allocate EQUAL reading time to your courses. Follow it religiously.
6. Get past exam questions from older students and practice the questions like mad. The more past questions you get, the better.
7. When you have studied, look for someone to teach...it enhances your own understanding.

In most cases, lecturers cannot set all the topics in their course outline in their exam so what they do is they set questions on Topic they are very good at or topic they believe is germane to your course of study .

Bottom line is know your lecturers which can be done through asking from your senior colleagues, studying and solving of past questions(Very effective) and direct contact with the lecturer.

know yourself : what style of reading works for you(Group reading, reading immediately after the end of the class etc,. what hour/part of the day do you assimilate more( Early morning, midnight etc)

Believe in yourself... Very Important.

I was in your situation when I was in 200L! This was what I did: I make sure pray b4 reading and that I read all the day lectures b4 the next day which I always assess myself at the end of each course reading. I stopped attending group discussion and believed in my ability more. All I am saying is you need to believe in yourself, God and work hard!

Effort, effort and consolidate your effort with God.
When I was in 100lvl, my CGPA was 3.9, I had a carryover, I Improved in 200lvl, my recent GPA was 5.0/5.0...i got all A's in 200lvl 2nd semester.
Just believe in yourself, work harder and smarter. But above all, Pray, study like there is no God and pray like there is no book

Baba go and chill, I offered a course in computer in my second year of Physiology at UI and I had an A. Which I struggled to have anyways, why? Because it's too abstract and boring... Not necessarily difficult but boring.

Why you are pained, I simply do not understand.
