If TI had given a pass mark to the country and upgraded our position, will Shehu ask for the criteria used to arrive at the result? TI's work is all about perception and we all know that the most corrupt and nepotic people in Nigeria today are firmly ensconced in Aso Rock. Why can't PMB ditches them? It is either PMB is corrupt using surrogates or he is not in charge, meaning gross incompetence! |

ManirBK:The way to score high is to go after currupt people in your government with the same vigour you go after those outside it as explained in OBJ's letter. As explained by Shehu Sani, you dont fight some with insectiside and fight others with deodorant and you expect high scores. It doesnt work out that way. 1 Like 1 Share |

He said the Presidency was still wondering the criteria or facts used by the anti-corruption watchdog to arrive at its very "misleading and unfair conclusions" in its assessment of the federal government's efforts in this anti-corruption crusade.. It is the same criteria that was used to place some countries in the first, second, third positions and so on. Okay? As if you don't know. |

All these western motivated and sponsored organisations. Switzerland that harbours 90% of world stolen money will never be featured as a corrupt nation! How can one exonerate a deliberate keeper of stolen goods and prosecute only the thief?! Even despite all the daily (reported and unreported) killings and unprovoked shouting in the US they will never rate it as an unsafe country. Nonsense! |

Fight against corruption, you can't defeat corruption in just four years. And not when your fight is perceived to be one sided and no one has been actually sent to prison for corruption. Just some personal fights against opposition party members. |

I'm not a buhari advocate, but Nigeria's judicial system is notoriously slow definitely one of the slowest in the world. so, if we continue like this it will take years before anyone receives a prison sentence and that's if they don't manage to extricate themselves one way or another. Buhari must know work has to be done if any progress is to be made against corruption. |

By the latest Transparency International ranking, Nigeria was ranked 148 out of 180 countries assessed in 2017, this represented a fall in Nigeria’s transparency levels an indication that corruption is healthy and waxing stronger. President Muhammadu Buhari’s media team have reacted to the report that corruption has worsened between 2016 and 2017. The Buhari administrations Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, described the anti-corruption watchdog’s assessment index to be based on hearsay and not facts and as such enjoined Transparency International to make their assessment based on facts and not fiction. According to the statement, “The Presidency notes that, while it welcomes constructive criticisms from the anti-corruption watchdog, Transparency International (TI), the organization has a responsibility to reflect the larger picture of the concrete and verifiable achievements of the Buhari administration since it came into office in May 2015. The rating will also have to do with injustice in Nigeria. For example no looter has been prosecuted and imprisoned. So Nigeria is still wickedly corrupt. All the corruption cases that were taken to, those people paid their out, including senators. All the general overseers are still taking all the wealth of their followers and sitting on their money. The judiciary and the police are still deeply corrupt |
