but wait, what if this has been an elaborate con to make the masses think Tinubu is out of power, when in actual fact he's been the one orchestrating these ordeals in order to fool the masses and his enemies alike? If this is the case, then he has succeeded in scamming majority of Nigerians and the opposition in general. Trust these politicians at your own peril. I gave up on them a long time ago
Hmm!!! salient and solid point you have there!!

Besides he "owns" and "controls" some of the media outlets in Lagos and they could be the tools used to simply achieve this mass hypnosis and confusion ..

I concur with you .

And the drama continues.

What Buhari did to Tinubu by appointing him the head of reconciliation can be likened to the popular tactics of converting a notorious criminal to a security of a facility.

That way you checkmate him and make it impossible for him to steal from the same facility he is securing.

Tinubu will henceforth have a less political bargaining power. Should he try anything , they will be like, shebi you are the one appointed to reconcile?

Besides, his political might in SW will diminish where Buhari popularity has dropped drastically. Accepting that appointment is the worst political decision from a man I have always thought is smart politically.
God bless you my brother, tinubu is not just about to be irrelevant politically but he will loose his political values

I was even over confidence that he won't accept that job not until the greedy man messed himself up, reconciling a lost battle and fighting a futile course

tinubu is a goner in national political space

Lol.. Did you read Tinubu's letter where he called for Oyegun to resign.
Here the truth young man: A house divided against itself cannot stand.
APC is that house built on deciet, lies and more lies plus proper propaganda.

some people will never forget the tactical strength of Tinubu in defeating their Drunkand Hero , so they are ready to convert any news to looks as if it’s all against Tinubu ... for your information for sending Gej out of Aso Rock is historically achievement that can never be narrated without the part played by Tinubu ... and the history will forever acknowledge that ... so if una like make una hate Tinubu from today till kingdom comes it won’t change the fact that he played a major role in the defeat of incumbent President in Nigeria ...

APC state chairmen have no powers to extend Oyeguns tenure.. They are only expressing an opinion. Not even the NWC can do that. Only the NEC of APC can do that under some circumstances.
Oyegun will go in a few months otherwise the party will break.

if Tinubu has truly lost relevance, his corruption file would have since been opened. Y'all shout about Buhari rubbishing him, yet this man still has his lackeys in government, he's walking around a free man, and Lagos has been recievimg maximum support from the FG. Keep fooling yourselves over politicians. These men are all laughing at us behind closed doors while sharing funds. GEJ was evil, GEJ was useless, yet Buhari hasn't even attempted to prosecute him directly since all this time. If that doesn't tell you things, then you're just as deluded as the average Nigerian.

There are contradictions. Was Ajomale (Tinubu is his oxygen), who supposedly signed the communique on behalf of the chairman, afraid of swimming against the tide of majority of his fellow chairmen? Did he (from the venue) get back to Tinubu on the reality on the ground and his boss told him to PLAY ALONG? Is this not done to defeat any claim that MR RECONCILER is himself the main antagonist to those he should be reconciling?

But one thing for sure, Tinubu has lost control of APC, and the Tinubu everyone knows is never comfortable except on the driving seat. Tinubu is surely not comfortable with these chairmen's support for Oyegun, but he might have seen the handwriting on the wall.

Methinks, Jagaban is doing eye-service, bidding his time, till the opportune time when he can deliver his REAL AND FINAL killer punch to Oyegun and the President. Everyone should wait for that killer punch. An explosion is coming. Expect it.

APC going! going!! going!!!.

If APC wishes to reward PMB with a second term despite the gross incompetence and the lack of capacity, Nigerians should deliver justice at the poll. Same mistake PDP did feeding Jonathan in the face of obvious loss of popularity among the ordinary Nigerians.

Let APC bring it on, Nigerians are patiently waiting.

If you still see this matter as Tinubu vs Buhari or vs Oyegun, then you don't care much about the future of the country.

agwom:
The 36 state chairmen of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have endorsed tenure extension for the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun led National Working Committee (NWC).

The state party chairmen also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to seek re-election in 2019.

A communiqué signed by Chief Henry Ajomale, the Lagos State APC chairman, passed a vote of confidence on President Buhari, the party’s National Chairman, Chief Odigie-Oyegun and other leaders for what they called numerous achievements despite challenges so far experienced in the country.

They said the decision was taken after a thorough appraisal of the APC government.

The communiqué, issued by the Forum of APC State Chairmen after their meeting in Abuja yesterday, also backed the Senator Bola Tinubu led peace and reconciliation committee and urged the panel to expedite action in reconciling members of the party.

The forum also called on all members of the party to give maximum support to the committee to achieve sustainable peace in the party.

Part of the communiqué read, “The forum hereby also resolved as follows: In view of the short period between the time available for the proposed party congresses and INEC published time-table for conduct of party primaries and general elections, the forum resolved that the tenure of the present officers of the party at all levels be extended by 2 years to avert challenges in the party.

“In view of the reasons as adduced above, and the fact that the present constitution as amended in 2014 has not been fully tested in the short life of the party, the forum resolved that the proposed amendment of the party constitution be suspended.”

Today’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting is expected to endorse the proposal of the state party chairmen, after its consideration last night by the national caucus of the ruling APC which met at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

It would be recalled that Daily Trust had earlier reported plans by APC leaders to extend the tenure of the current NWC.

PDP squandered $500bn in 16 years – Buhari

Buhari said the Peoples Democratic Party squandered $500 billion oil earnings in 16 years.

“Nigeria was fast heading for a state of collapse. It is easy to forget the fuel subsidy fraud, arms fund diversion, depleted excess account savings, depleted foreign reserves, massive unpaid debts to contractors and suppliers amidst failure to invest or even maintain our infrastructure namely railways, roads, electricity, in spite of having earned over US$500 billion from Oil & Gas alone, during the 16 years of PDP rule. Lest we forget, we must always remind ourselves of the dire situation in which we came to office.

“Therefore we must not be shy in projecting our tremendous achievements from 2015 to date. The territorial integrity of Nigeria is no longer under threat. A number of security challenges still exist, but they exist in even the most well policed and well secured countries. I am confident that the measures we are taking will tackle the acts of rural banditry, herdsmen/farmers conflicts, communal clashes, kidnappings and other crimes,” he said.

APC must brace up for tough challenges in 2019 – Oyegun

“I wish to note that the road so far has not been smooth sailing, but we have weathered the storm. We must brace ourselves to face and overcome challenges that will come our way this year, and they are going to be tough. Elections are generally very emotive,” he said.

He said he fully supported the Asiwaju Peace Committee constituted to reconcile all aggrieved groups within the party and encouraged all members to support the committee.

Our correspondent reports that Senate President Bukola Saraki and Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed were among top party members absent as of the time of filing this report (10:00pm).

The meeting, which started at 8:00pm, was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Speaker House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, state governors, members of National Working Committee, members of the National Assembly, members of National Executive Council, former governors, ministers among others.

Battles ahead of APC – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has admitted that there are battles ahead of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections.

He said the reconciliation committee headed by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu must be given maximum support and cooperation with a view to getting the party united in purpose and in shape.

The president said this at the Presidential Villa in Abuja last night at a meeting of the national caucus of the party.

He spoke about the party differences in various states, saying “To this end, I have appointed a committee, headed by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a leader of the party, to reconcile differences in various states. We hope the committee will be given maximum support and cooperation to enable it to satisfactorily carry out its work and get the party united in purpose and in shape for the battles ahead.”

President Buhari said for the APC to succeed in winning the 2019 general elections, the constitution of the party must be strictly followed in all actions and decisions.

He said the party could not have been victorious in 2015 without the unity of purpose exhibited in challenging and defeating an incumbent government.

Buhari said, “This unity and success are needed now more than ever because elections are now looming.”

The President said he was aware of opinions and criticisms about the pace of his government. “In particular, the delay in appointments to boards of parastatals. Many boards have been inaugurated so far.”

He said now that the INEC had come out with the timetable for elections in 2019, the party should prepare itself for congresses at wards, local governments, states and the centre.

He said party leaders should also ensure internal democracy and avoid short cuts and illegal manoeuvres, which had characterized the opposition party “with the consequences that they are now divided.”

“The APC has a history of conducting free and fair primaries whenever consensus about any candidacy is not reached. Regardless of the outcomes of the primary processes, it is imperative that we all work together to ensure the victory of our party.”

Tinubu never learn the wisdom of Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo will not fall for the SHITTT Tinubu is passing through in the hands of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former TOOTHLESS BULLDOG, Chief Odigie Oyegun is getting the heart to TWIST Tinubu left, right and centre because of the enormous support he is getting from President Muhammadu Buhari.

TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, PRESIDENT BUHARI DOES NOT LIKE TINUBU AS HE SEES TINUBU AS VERY CORRUPT AND POWER DRUNK.

Tinubu even know that President Buhari does not like him.

Quite sadly Tinubu take Buhari to the Federal Centre but he could not gain access to CANAAN LAND

Buhari is denying him the right to drink from the water that he help to fetch.

Take it or leave it, If Buhari win 2019, Tinubu will be dump like ABANAYAN MATERIAL.

Kids too plenty on Nairaland...Those who are obviously still in diapers and don't know anything about our political realities.

These are the same state chairmen who wanted Oyegun out...Why not sit down and reason that something must have happened for them now to tell Oyegun to continue...Anyway, ignorance is blissful.

You read my mind madam. Ajomale can't make such move without Tinubu endorsement. That man can never be part of any anti-Tinubu plan.

Listen, there have been such plots since the days of Obasanjo and Jonathan. The problem with some of you is that your personal hatred for BAT makes you hallucinate about all kinds of funny stuff. You obviously don't know who Ajomale is for you to be saying this. Tinubu can leave APC today and still be ok and retain Lagos no shaking because he has absolute control of the state's political machinery. From the governor, to the state assembly members, house of reps members, senators, state party chairman, LG chairmen to ward level, you name it. How often do you see Ambode going to Aso rock? It's like saying that Amaechi will kickout Wike because he is a minister. Or that Buhari can dislodge Saraki from kwara just like that. That's the height of political hallucination. Politics is local my friend.

An irony. People from different ethnics in Nigeria look at the Hausa/Fulani as low classed and lowest in educational background. Yet, it is startling to have the same Hausa/Fulani use other Nigerians' intelligence to their advantage. Buhari used Tinubu and others to gain the Aso rock seat in 2015, thrashed them to the waste bin afterwards and brought in only his kinsmen he sees as superiors and now wants the same people he thrashed to come and work for him and same

It was an obvious trap and Tinubu knew it. He would have sat with Bisi Akande and those around him to discuss it before accepting. He knew the trap well.

Refusing would have meant saying he had no interest in unifying the party. In fact publicly implying that he was divisive himself. Something no "national leader" can afford. So he decided to accept and appear to be busy rallying people and travelling everywhere. So that he can later claim that he did his best BUT the national chairman made his work impossible. He saw an opportunity to take down Oyegun, something he has wanted for about two years now.

His power in SW diminished long ago. Because 9ja politics is all about power at the centre. Everyone has been sucking up to Buhari, including Tinubu's erstwhile boys now in Buhari's cabinet. Ajimobi even got Kemi Adeosun into finance minister position ahead of Tinubu's Wale Edun. Akerodulu doesn't even want Tinubu in Ondo as a peacemaker.

Since his former boys are all comfortable in political positions, with direct access to Aso Rock, Tinubu is currently like a local chieftain.
That can change of course depending on political dynamics.

Getting another alliance that will propel him very close to Aso Rock might be difficult post Buhari. So he's secretly livid but patient. He knows getting Osinbajo to be president might be his only joker and can only happen with massive support of the North.

His pain is that he has invested his political capital in Buhari's govt, yet he has little say in FG affairs. Failure of the govt would be his failure too.
