That was exactly what I did for Ekene when hr clocked 1 year, we switched to full cream alone till now. No need to combine but there's no harm in it if you choose to.

y not follow the hospital advice, plastic bell type was use for my ds too , we where also told not to rub anything there which I followed and it healed itself within few days

Bandage was used to cover part of his penis and we were told to remove it after 3days and then start rubbing penicillin ointment on it till it heals completely.

Some people have severe reaction to penicillin so be careful. If there is no risk of infection and it looks like it is healing ok. It is best to leave it. Or go back to your doctor to check it for a second opinion, if only to get your MIL off the case.
