All this man talks about is just insecurity nothing on the economy and food security. This man is not bothered about the hardships Nigerians are passing thru.we dont need a president who is non challant about our sufferings.we need a responsive president.Someone who has vision and can turn this country around in no time. It's so unfortunate how this man failed with all the good will given to him by Nigerians. He couldn't write his name POSITIVELY in the book of history for unborn generations to see instead his 2nd coming brought untold hardship on the nation. What a shame!!!

NIGERIANS GO GET YOUR PVC AND DEDICATE THAT ELECTION DAY TO VOTE.VOTE IN SOMEONE WITH SOUND AND PROVEN RECORD OF HOW TO TURN THIS NATION AROUND FAST IRRESPECTIVE OF HIS TRIBE AND RELIGION.

President Muhammadu Buhari says the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government has been salvaging Nigeria from her challenges since he assumed office.

The President said this on Tuesday while addressing a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

He urged leaders and members of the APC at the meeting, as well as Nigerians, to support the security agencies in tackling insecurity in the coun

Ahead of the forthcoming elections, President Buhari declared the APC as the party of the Nigerian people and asked its leaders and members to join forces towards achieving victory in the 2019 polls.

He further asked them to remind Nigerians of the past and thank them for supporting the APC in spite of the recent challenges in the country.

The President also appealed to the party faithful not to relax and support the presidential committee led by former governor Bola Tinubu, to reconcile all aggrieved members of the APC.

Read the President’s full remarks below:

I welcome all of you dear party members to this year’s NEC meeting.

Let me first record my appreciation to the party leadership in Abuja and the states for their stewardship of the party affairs. In particular, may I commend our Chairman, His Excellency Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, for steering the party from success to success.

From our resounding victory in 2015, to gubernatorial elections in Kogi, Edo and Ondo as well as much improved showing in Anambra Elections. APC is the party of government and now the party of the Nigerian people.

Mr Chairman, Members of NEC, great credit is due to our APC State Governors for stabilizing the country and to our Armed Forces, Police and other Security Agencies for stopping Boko Haram in its tracks and driving them from their bases. No country, however well secured, can prevent isolated acts of terror as we have seen in America, Europe, Asia and here in Africa.

We must support our Security Agencies to safeguard our country so that the job of development as outlined in our Manifesto can proceed without too much interruption.

Mr Chairman, Members of the National Executive Committee, we cannot afford to fail to remind Nigerians where we came from in 2015. I am happy to report that slowly and steadily we have managed to stabilise the country and re-direct the ship of the State.

We have restored prudence to the management of public finances. Confidence in Nigeria has been restored. On February 23rd, Nigeria issued 12-year and 20-year Eurobond on the international market, which were both oversubscribed. The 12-year bond was within days subscribed by 332%. The 20-year bond was subscribed by 372%.

We have stabilised the Naira, increased our foreign reserves from US$20 billion to US$40 billion. Inflation rate is down. With considerably less resources available to the country, we have improved all indices towards a stronger economy.

Above all, we must pay tribute to the Nigerian people. They still massively support the government in spite of distractions from exponents of “business-as-usual”.

Nevertheless, I am not asking us to relax and take things easy. As we all know, elections are looming on the horizon, we must, therefore, get our act together. Accordingly, I implore all members of the Party to give the Asiwaju Committee full cooperation to resolve differences existing amongst our members in the States affected. It is perhaps inevitable that there would be differences of opinion within the Party. If we didn’t have differences we wouldn’t be a genuinely democratic Party.

But we must not lose sight of our common purpose as a new Party to break the mould of Nigerian politics and take the country to new heights. Therefore, we have asked our respected Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead this process of restoring order to the ranks, manage differences and strengthen the Party.

Mr Chairman, members of the National Executive Committee, I must acknowledge that the pace of government has not met the expectations of many within our Party. But few of us knew or appreciated the depth of the hole when we took office. Thus we spent the last two years digging the country out of the mess we met.

Furthermore, the stand-off between the Executive and the National Assembly slowed the process of government. We are working hard to resolve the differences so that the country can move forward.

Soon, primaries for; wards, local governments, state and centre will be due.

I urge all members to take account of the fact that APC has a history of conducting free and fair primaries whenever consensus about any position is not reached. Regardless of thcomes of the primary processes, it is imperative that we all work together to ensure victory for our party.

Thank you

If PDP left a mess of the biggest economy in Africa, dollars at N197, fuel at N87, low food prices, no mass unemployment, just to mention a few and after fixing that mess for 3years, we have dollars at N360, fuel at N145, food prices higher than ever before, massive loss of job everywhere, recessed economy, then I think I'm better off in that mess. So Mr Buhari, please and please return us back into the mess you met us. Thank you sir.

Pump sales (Naira) cannot compare to crude oil sales (USD)
why not? the difference in quantities will make it up because in liters we have more quantities to sell to the public with a difference of N103 (190 - 87). than in crude barrels
we consume about 55million liters of fuel daily multiplied by 103
we export about 2.1million barrels daily

the difference in those two quantities will make up any expected shortfall in the naira and high
dollar exchanges which was caused by them
hope u know they have increased import and custom duties
hope u know we make more money now with TSA, BVN, and whistle blower policies
hope u know they have recovered more than N500b in the anti corruption drive
hope u know that they deduct N50 tax anytime we lodge money in banks

so I don't know why they are still complaining and why things are still as bad as this. the purpose of anybody taking up any position is to make the organization better than he met it. there shouldn't be any excuse why it should get worse, if not there shouldn't have been any need for change of leadership
as at today IMF indicates that Nigerians are getting poorer. Transparency intl indicates that we are still corrupt nation

Buharis policy of cramping down on public fund looters drove several PDP member into reduced spending to protect against the eyes of EFCC. This reduced spending led to excess supply since demand had to drop.

This would have been good on its own as supply exceeded demand leading to a drop in the price of goods in general. But coupled with the drop in world oil prices this led to a devaluation in the naira (as exchange rate is closely tied to the value of our main export).

What Buhari did not know is that a drop in price of general goods will deter foreign investors as they are interested in making profit which was not helped by the excess supply and reduced prices of commodities while means of production got more expensive.

He decided to change all policies made by GEJ regime without waiting to observe the economy. This is why you can freely and correctly say that the recession was his fault. If he had waited just a few months he would have seen that witch-hunting pdp members was not the answer to a better and profitable economy.

My solution to Nigerias problem is just one word -CONTINUITY. We need a leader who is truly for the people, I don't care if he was elected by the people but he must work for the people. This leader should be allowed to rule is for 30 years. Preferably an economist who understands how an economy works. Buhari is more concerned about what happens in "the other room"

Even though CBN came to the rescue by injection of forex into the economy, this solution although viable came a bit too late.

We need to constantly study our economy in anticipation of slumps and find a means of early detection instead of waiting till the problem arises to solve it.

We need to fund research and stop funding the excesses of our leaders. I mean, what does Nigeria need 36 states for? We are a small country where 10 states will suffice.

We need a total overhaul of Government!!!!!
Uncle, America has seen the threat. It is called foreign imports.
Trump said one word, "America First".
A leader needs to psych his people that " They" can DO IT.

Even though it is possible for American businesses to just cheaply import all their goods from China, Trump has seen that if this is done, all US businesses will go under, there would be massive unemployment and people would just start committing suicide or killing each other out of desperation.

Trump increased the import duty on foreign goods to discourage importation more. Let Americans make the things that Americans want and keep their economy economy active.

UK was so stupid to be allowing foreign import. Shey, they are struggling now. Now sef, they wan do Brexit to isolate themselves and get their feet again. (Is that not also saying UK first?!)

Nigeria is messing around. No matter the leader we have, if you keep that border open to foreign goods, we are all f***ked. People will commit more suicide, kidnap more and other BS that we have learnt to do .

Hey thanks for the info man, you do know your stuff, and i learned alot from this post..

I did a calculation.. crude exports is 126 million dollars daily @ 60 dollar a barrel, pump sales daily is 15 million dollars.. So crude exports is still alot but i understand your point

I am glad you agree monies have been recovered from looters.. at least you give the president credit there..

Nigeria is corrupt no doubt, but the general feeling is that it has decreased in this present administration

The federal government is executing a couple of projects as we speak, roads and power especially. One thing that hurts me is the recurrent expenditure which is more than the funds we spend on capital projects..

Buhari's failure is in the fulani herdsman menace for me..

Well said... Import substitution was where we shot ourself in the foot many many years. What we need to do is place a barn on things we can produce in Nigeria and import what we can't.

Now even if we have a president brave enough to close our borders to imports, what happens when he leaves office then the next president opens up the borders again?

We need continuity for anything to work in this country. A lot of policies have been stop prematurely and this is our greatest weakness
