By the way, 'camera reimagined' is the focus of the S9 and S9+. It didn't promise a major upgrade from S8 and S8+. if you remember the S7 and S7 edge weren't a big upgrade from S6 and S6 edge but they were significantly better.

just like end to end or so called infinity display are becoming trendsetting due to its ubiquity in many flagships.

Ground breaking must be disruptive as well have the wow factor. Tick tock cycle huh..lets look at the sales chart of S9 in the next six months then.

Lemme take you on a history lesson.

Back in 2014, Samsung Galaxy S5 came with swipe style fingerprint scanner; everyone considered that to be a gimmick.

Back in 2011, HTC released a device with dual camera at the back; no one cared about it, it was all gimmicks to people.

Back in 2014, Microsoft was preparing an 18:9 aspect ratio windows phone; we all wouldn't buy it then, so, they didn't even bother to release it.

Availability doesn't always mean a trend will catch on. A trend would catch on based on its X factor; that unknown factor determined by the intricacies of the mobile world. A trend would also catch on IF THE TIMING WAS RIGHT.

I had always known it would be a Chinese OEM that would create an on-screen fingerprint scanner. But, no, that trend won't catch on yet, at least, not when a manufacturer hasn't perfected it and made it mainstream. and I think now is just not the time, maybe next year.


I'd really advice that you read tech journals, blogs, events,etc with a bit less sentiments. it's only then that you'd see a pattern of trend-setting that is unusual and unpredictable.

Common Wireless charging that has been for ages, some are just getting to know about it because Samsung S8 and iPhone 8 has it, imagine! Timing!

Who knew the Notch would be a thing! I hear OnePlus 6 is going to have it, LG G7 is going to have it, heck, everyone's digging the Notch! imagine that!

Fortunately, here in the states we only get to walk into the offices of our service providers for a swap. Of cause if comes with an upgrade price. Sure better than the price of having to BUY a phone every year.

At this point screen technology is at it apex even processor and ram capabilities. The only improvement that could be done is with the Camera. I don’t see this changeing at least for next two years only gimmick and other applications can be improved on in the next variant
