Cars45, Do They Actually Buy Your Car In 45 Minutes? – By Autojosh by AutoJoshNG: 6:37am On Mar 02, 2018

I have been getting a couple of phone calls from people who ask about the authenticity of Cars45. They ask questions like: Will they pay me? Will my car be safe? Will they buy at a good price? Are they genuine? A man from Ibadan even asked if they would not elope with his car.

So I decided to write this review about Cars45 for those who would like to know a little about the Company.

Cars45 was founded in 2016 by Etop Ikpe (Former commercial director of Konga and former CEO of DealDey) with Iyamu Mohammed, Sujay Tyle and Peter Lindholm as co-founders. The company was established to help Nigerian car users reduce difficulties of selling their used cars and they have been doing a good job at that. They even got a N1.8 billion ($5million) funding last year.. so they probably won’t run away with your N2million car.

Their head office is located at Agidingbi, Lagos with 23 branches in Lagos, 5 in Abuja and 1 office in Port Harcourt. They are obviously the foremost car selling and auctioning platform for Nigerian used cars.

At the moment, Cars45 is the most reliable and quickest way to sell your Nigerian used car. Some of the advantages they offer are:

1) You don’t have to park your car on the road side with a “For Sale” Jerrycan on it for 3 months, all in the name of “I want to sell my car”

2) Car sellers are usually scared that prospective buyers can driver away in their car or even plant a tracking device and come steal the car in the middle of the night.

3) You get your entire sales proceed as soon as all the vehicle documents are verified. There is no “please let me pay 70% now and pay the balance next month”.

4) No buyer will come wage war against you that they shouldn’t have bought your car in the first place because they are now having problems with it. Cars45 would have done a thorough check before buying your car.

5) The company links you and your car with several buyers (mostly car dealers) through their car auction platform.. just like Copart and IAAI car auctions in USA.

Despite the company’s robust profile as well as the benefits they offer, the most valid question that runs through the mind of an average car seller is, will they buy my car at a good price? Well, the answer to the question is determined by many variables, which may be revealed during the inspection process. These include:

1) The car has been involved in a major accident in the past. Sadly, many cars on Nigerian roads fall in this category as they were imported as salvaged cars from USA auctions.

2) Incomplete documentation especially if the car does not have genuine import duty papers.

3) Poor maintenance.

4) Some high-end cars with low demand might be grossly undervalued. Note that the price they will pay for your car is largely determined by forces of demand and supply.

5) Don’t even think of selling your unregistered tokunbo car through them. It’s not Berger car market so you’ll hardly get a good price.

After selling some cars through Cars45 and sampling the opinion of some of their clients, it was easy to conclude that their prices are moderate and fair. Note, their prices are usually not meant for people who want to cash in big time when selling their cars. For example, I sold a 3-year-old 2012 Toyota Camry through Car45 in December 2017. I was compelled to patronize the company because I wasn’t getting any good offer after putting the car on the market for a month. I had posted the car advert on 4 different car sale websites, I also pasted a “For Sale” sticker on it and even parked it at a friend’s car lot in Victoria Island but no serious leads came forth. I was willing to sell for N3.2m but no buyer. I got on Cars45’s website, checked the car's proposed valuation, booked an appointment and dashed to their office to inspect the vehicle. Sadly, the inspection and processing took longer than the advertised 45 minutes, but I was pacified with a N3million offer after my 2 hours ordeal. A reasonable price to pay to end my month long search for a buyer.

In conclusion, Car45 will buy your car at a moderate and fair price, which will not make you an instant millionaire as most of us would have wanted. They also buy or help you sell your car within the fastest time in Nigeria but is it actually in 45 minutes as they’ve always advertised? I doubt because the 1 or 2 vehicle inspectors at their branches can easily get overwhelmed causing delay and the branch office also have slow internet to contend with as bulk of their processes are transmitted online to and from their head office.

I don't want to say that you are paid for a damage control campaign for car45 after the current wave of complaints by those who have patronised them.

You may also need to be told that they buy your cars at a very low price & sell off at huge profit. Only a desperate seller would actually sell to them.

Where does it happen that those who test drive cars run away with them? Do you just allow a stranger to drive your car alone because they indicated interest in buying?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the essence of your post. Honesty remains the proper ingredient to a successful business name.

Car45 is actually not a big scam by intention, they have become a scam by their process/modus operand is. With the presence of touts who brand themselves as dealers inside their yards or premises deceiving gullible end buyers who for the trust they have for car45 have failed to hold on to their guard while doing business with them. Am saying in terms of an end user patronizing them.

Big scam of a company, took a Ford explorer 07, and without test driving or anything at all, they said it can't go for anything higher than 350k undecided

Like I a jeep that was still in very perfect condition. I left in anger

And NO! They can't buy your car in 45mins, after test driving and checking for faults which would be like 90mins, the online trade isn't even a 100% sure you'd get your vehicle sold.

They are not a scam company. I have gone there on many occasions looking to buy a car. The last time was for a venza 2012 being sold for 4m. The comprehensive report they gave for that car was deep and as such you have the option of buying as it is. They sell the car as it is and they let you know rhe true condition of the car before you buy. How many dealers tells their customers the true history of the cars they intend to sell. They bring in salvage cars and fix it and want to sell as it is and until you pay for carfax, then you get the real story behind the car. That is the highest deceit any car dealer will do and they are rampant. Tales abound of cars mileage being reduced to enable the buyer to be happy with his deal but when you scan the car, a whopping 200000kms have been removed. This issue will never occur with cars45 and you will know the condition of the car you are buying up to the point of cigarette lighter. Used car dealers are envious of an idea that is meant to show confidence in the sector. How many times have you seen a car sold on jiji with a good price and when they bring the car for inspection, it is a sorry case?

Just gone through the thread and I saw no fault with Cars45 there. You only negotiate to pay for what pleases you. If after the deposit they paid, and they took a mechanic along to crosscheck the info on the car, that would have saved them their loss. Besides from which country will a right hand corolla come from? SA or Uk? As is is a condition of you buy as you get. No responsibility on the part of the seller

We’ll agree to disagree.

Nigeria is such an interesting country. Fraud is excused away joyously. Fraud is celebrated ecstatically.

Buyers, until Cars45.Com changes their operations, my advice is to avoid them entirely. They are not trustworthy.

They bought the car with 2008 value and sold with 2010 value advert and bought back at 2008 value to resell at 2010 value again.

How in God's name will a company claim innocence when all the go betweens are fraudulent touts?

The thunder that will fire Autojosh for this paid post is being compressed and supercharged by a W12 engine.

Hahaha unfortunely w12 engines are dead in Nigeria and can't be compressed. I have never bought a car from them but their report on the venza made the clients to back off the deal. The buyer is on Nairaland and he is conversant with those that render inspection service on cars and he never used them. The only place that you can check the year of a toylta is by the driver side door or seat belt and the buyer never checked. Buying a rightie toyota is easy to detect by the power window button on the driver side working for the passenger side. Who are the people selling their used cars? Those who have been made desolate by the choice of mechanics they have and hence would want to get rid of the cars for their peace of mind. A friend once sold his Vw passat 2005 model in 2008 for 150k for his peace of mind. There are also those that sells their cars because of urgent cash needs and the Cars45 buys the car and pay them in full and now takes the risk of selling the same car as they bought it and without fixing anything. And you guys says they are fruadulent? Wake up guys, if they modify these cars before selling, if there is no report before buying, then they are scammers. But tie down their funds in buying crap cars and selling the same cars in their crap condition, they are the victims here o.

Hayastark:
Few days after Christmas we arrived at their warehouse close to ndubuisi park. The agent a young lady signed and took us in. And then we began our search. We had spoken to her about a 2012 Toyota corrola we found on olx. She showed us the car. Bodily we were not impressed, we wanted a car we will not have to change it first body. Our search led us to a 2012 toyota corrolla. Body seem ok, interior also ok. "What year is this car? I asked "2012 "she said
But the driver seat belt showed the model was 2009. I brought this to her notice, she responded and checked her phone again where they have the catalogue of cars.
" thats what they wrote "
Ok dh said bring the key"

She brought the key and also car battery
And we started the journey of trying to start the car in futility. The engine picked but refused to start
Wetin come happen - I asked
She called her male colleagues but the car doesn't start.
So we moved on, continuing our search
And then we saw it!!!!
A toyota corrolla 2011 dark blue (oju yobo). Exterior clean, interior clean, in fact the only thing that did not look superb about the car is that it didn't have alloy rim (but that doesnt count)
How much is this car? We asked
she checked her phone called her oga and return to us
That car mileage is 26000. And it is a 2011 model
26thousand wow? We were impressed

You are such an incorrigible liar.

By the way, W12 means 12 cylinder engine in a 'W' configuration.

It’s really sad.

AutoJosh has lost all the respect that I previously had for his brand.

He can never earn that back which is a shame as I wanted to partner with the brand financially so I could use his services to promote my dealership.

How many times have you seen a car sold on jiji with a good price and when they bring the car for inspection, it is a sorry case?

are you an agent of cars45 or are you autojohn?
