Hey guys I'm planning on switching from windows to Linux and currently searching for a good Linux distro.

So I ask,

What distro are you currently using?
Would you recommend it for a newbie like me?

Ubuntu

Hmmmm, I will say ot depends so let me explain,

I have KDE Neon on my Computer village laptop

But on my home server, I have Debain 9 running as host with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, Centos 7.4, QubesOS 4.0 and Kali Linux all running as VMs.
Each for different purposes. In spite of all these I have many ISOs of several interesting distros I have come across over the years.

I am a Linux enthusiast and I just created a group on telegram called Nigeria Linux User Group. You can join if interested.

I will say it depends but for a start I will recommend Ubuntu (Gnome) or Kubuntu (KDE). I use KDE so its easy to recommend KDE to people. Screenshot attached (KDE Neon)

Yea I have. Deepin is a builtiful desktop manager. I wanted to test Deepin from Manjaro a while back but later i dropped the idea.
I have the ISO file just the time to try it out on my VM.

Not to discourage you but I also heard recently that Deepin OS had what a good Linux user called spyware on his vlog. Check out these links;

Try out the new Ubuntu 18.04 or any of its flavours released today. Just wait for the sites to be updated to show the official released 18.04 version.

Have you chosen a distro yetor still checking options? I installed Manjaro Deepin on Virtualbox. Not bad at all. You might want to try that out since you are interested in Deepin.
