Thankgodtt:
So, I was talking to my friend on the need to get a PVC, and he told me that he was at INEC office at Akure (Ondo State) some weeks ago to register. But he was unable because the man in charge told him to go to his State to do so.
I asked him for details he said the man didn't explain.

So I Decided to get registered today. So I arrived at INEC office Akure at Oda Road very close to NYSC zonal office by 10am this morning with my guy to register. we greeted people around and told them we wanted to register, and we were directed to a man at his early forties. We told him we wanted to register and he ask which states we were from, we told him and he said "We can't register you, go to your states and register" I asked him Why and he said that is the instruction. We insisted and he said "Oga I have attended to you o" (in a rude manner) I told him I don't understand, and asked who gave such instruction in a polite way. Then he snubbed us. In fact he pretended we were not there. We felt so embarrassed.

Please is there any official instruction that states we should register with INEC in our state of Origin?
If No, What is going on?

My state of origin is ekiti and I registered for PVC in kwara state. No hitch. I was only asked about the local government where I want to vote

it happens everywhere in the south west. Inec will register at their own will, area boys will include fake names and start selling slot. SMH

My own issue is that I want to vote out buhari but APC and PDP isn't a choice for me. grin

@ OP there is no rule that states one must register in his state of origin. What the law says is that you either register in your place of residence or your place of work. Either way you have to pick a polling unit you can access easily on elections day. As you know vehicular movement is restricted during elections . I doubt an INEC staff will actually give you that wrong information but to address it contact the Inec citizens contact centre on 09050858629, 08180958715.

And going by this post of yours, it has never occurred to you that you yourself are running your mouth. The INEC official who refused to register them, was he an Aboki? Why is he the only one crying out in all the 36 states of Nigeria? We take people to INEC office in Osogbo every now and then, not a single person had been turned away on account of not being an indigen of the state.
Has the guy reported to any authority? At least, he's a little bit educated.

In a matter of minutes we will even forget what we have been discussing because the thread would have been badly derailed by pro and anti government sides...and ofcourse ethnic egoists...

Please @OP, let us have the name of this INEC official, if we drag his name well enough, he will mention the name of the authority that gave that devilish direction...

I sometimes wonder why we always resign ourselves to fate too easily in this country?
Issues happen and before anyone complains, we reason out that nothing will be done, no one will be punished and it happens just as we have imagined it.

We have seen times without number that when there is an outcry to an injustice, actions are taken by the people in authority, whether the actions taken are commensurate is another story. If we want things to change in this country, we have to talk and act everytime something wrong or bad happens. And if we can't, we might as well resign completely to fate.

God bless you. You nailed it. It's pathetic how we trivialise everything here and unfortunately most people here are youths who ought to be vibrant. We heard how they intimidate INEC officials in the north and what comes out of it? Nothing!!! It's our future we are talking here people.
