liberia was colonised by the U S, they had their independence in 1848. probably the first independent african country
Liberia was not colonise at all, they were only freed from slave trade in 1847 (perphaps never really a colony at all).

I hope it wont be a crime as well if we hear form your perspective as well.

Egypt was invaded many times
throughout history, but it was under
the colonial rule of the British Empire,
but its history is different from most
colonization in African countries.
This colonization took on several steps.
It started in what was called the “veiled
protectorate” when Egypt was still part
of the Ottoman Empire. But when the
Ottomans joined the first world war on
the side of the Central Powers, the
British announced a formal protectorate
over Egypt and installed a new king
who named the country independent of
the Ottomans.
The British installed army in the
country at that time, especially around
Suez Canal which they controlled, and
were incredibly influential in the
government. They were intertwined
with the government, and could remove
ministers and even kings. This
continued on until the Egyptian
Revolution in 1952, which installed a
government that negotiated with the
British pulling out of the country. ght
them in suez city and they didn’t make.

Egypt was colonized by many
throughtout the history such as greeks,
romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Mamelukes,
Ottoman Turks, French and british. the
last time was by british for 72 years
which ended in 1952 and the last try
was in 1956 by israel, france, england
but it failed when egyptians fought
them in suez city and they didn’t make.

The use of ‘country’ here is problematic. When England was substantially colonised (quite some time before it was ‘England’, in fact), the modern conception of nation-states did not exist. The colonists themselves were not representing anything we would recognise as a ‘country’, so the term cannot be applied accurately.

Prehistoric colonists remain largely unknown, to the best of my knowledge. Archaeology demonstrates that migration was a factor even in neolithic times, but we can’t know the extent of it. Celtic culture certainly arrived from somewhere, at some point, but when and whence are unknown and possibly unknowable.

The Romans conquered the British mainland south of the Hadrian/Antonine Walls, and colonies were founded during the period of their rule.

After the Roman Empire withdrew, invaders/colonists came from all over northern Europe (mainly the coastal regions of modern Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and others - but before any of these places were organised into ‘countries’).

The most recent were the Normans who followed William the Conqueror and his successors. The Normans had more of a national identity, but calling Normandy a ‘country’ would be a stretch.

After the fall of the Roman empire due to constant war, there were lots of break up factions and other tribes coming to form new empire such as Constantinople, Byzantine etc. The British was among the Byzantine it got invaded by the vikings, it broke up yet again then British became autonomous but still under the watch of the pope of the Roman Catholic, then one of the sons of the then British king broke out with some people and called themselves Francs (France) after the death of the then British king. There was constant war between France and Britain which the pope eventually settled but to the benefit of the francs. British just went their way trying to protect her kingdom eversince and doing away with the roman Catholics and stop taking orders from the pope but their King/Queen.
It was Henry VIII's decision to divorce Catherine of Aragon his first wife that prompted the break from Roman Catholicism, because he desired to take Anne Boleyn as his new wife, an action which the pope wouldn't be party to. From then he assumed supremacy over religious matters in England and created the Anglican Church (Church of England)

The show is historically correct.
Not completely. There are a lot of additions and subtractions.

The Anglo-Saxons are the ancestors of the modern-day English people. They basically created the English nation.

ofcourse. There is always addition and may be not much substraction in every documentary movies or series to keep you interested in watching or to keep you entertained.

But the whole story its self is historically accurate and it was based on European history and how the vikings (eastern Europeans) helped shaped Christianity as a religion. No addition or subtraction.

You can also read about vikings or read entire European history, about the Anglo saxons, the Roman empire ( that's gave birth to smaller nations) , etc. It will put things in perspective how much accurate the show really is.

I watch it, I also read a lot of history. Vikings are more like Northern Europeans.
i'd say the show is probably like 70-75% historically accurate.

I meant northern Europe.

I'm talking about the story not the show. The show is less down 50% accurate but the story is 90-99% accurate.

Are we talking of settling or colonization because almost all the people described here were settlers. The Romans were the only ones with a claim to that but they were more of invaders than colonial masters. Alfred the Great King of Wessex defeated and pushed the vikings out. William the Conquerors invasion was a war of succession

Celts.

But the Celts weren't particular to England, they were spread across the British Isles not just England.
Romans conquered Britain and also influenced the Celtic culture.
The Anglo-Saxons and Scot Gaels(Scotland and Nothern Britain) later came in.
The Anglo-Saxons are the ones that eventually created the English Nation (unified different small kingdoms to create England)
