A husband took to Twitter to explain how his wife, a professional architect, always has to take him with her to meetings for her to be taken seriously by the men.

According to Jeremy McLellan, his wife, who is a professional, will try to explain her point to men she meets in the course of her work and they will claim not to follow but when he, who has absolutely no understanding of the profession, repeats what she's saying, they listen to him.

His tweet led other men and women who have witnessed sexism in the line of work to speak up.

Every gender has its own pros and cons...
But the female gender always wants to have only pros and pros...

You are both being sarcastic this has nothing to do with playing the victim card discrimination in the work place still happens especially against females.

So you call professionals who want to be taken seriously people who dont want cons?

I have seen where a patient rejected a female doctor even though she was the most experienced there.

Well I see men who fix nails and lashes as sissies... You need to b in touch with your feminine side to indulge in such work as a guy. Kudos to them though.

It happens always, especially with professions that are not stereotypes. If she was a Nurse or caterer, they will take her more serious and believe she is very competent.

Dnt mind those people as if they dnt already know. It is even a man that said this on behalf of his wife. So what sense do they think they are making?

Well I believe it goes both ways, just that you don't see the men complain.

Have you ever worked as a financial sales executive/rep/marketer, then you would understand that it is mostly an easy work for the ladies than the guys in that field because people would easily trust a lady with their finances just because she is a lady.

Also like someone just mentioned, that she sees guys that fix nails as sissies just because she believes its a lady's field.

So truly in this world of ours, both genders have it pros and cons and not for one gender to always cry blue murder

Construction and Engineering are pragmatic professions.

No woman should be allowed on site.

There is always prejudice and stereotype based on gender, skin colour, sexual orientation, accent, culture, religion, profession, political affiliation, etc.

The world is one giant prejudicial jungle. And everyone is guilty of and a victim of one or the other at some point. Absolutely nobody smells of roses in this regard.

For example how many pregnant women are keen on a male midwife? shocked shocked

This is different when it comes to music. A female music producer is actually cute lol. I don't even know why but it's true. They have a better chance of getting a placement than the male counterparts

It's worse here in naija.

People always dismiss women with stuff like "" woman that bends to urinate""

The day women stop sexualising their body and get the men to see only their brain working, not their sexual appeal, that's the day men will start taking them serious.

people with lots of time for idle meaningless discussions., which one is needing a man so they take you seriously. what is happening with these attention seeking women and the weak men they parade about. truly shocking .

subtle male emasculation in progress started by an emasculated male. if you are professional and know what you talking about, people will take you seriously Irrepective of gender. maybe when men don't take some men seriously it is also a sexist attack. bunch of nitwits trying to be "woke"

It is so obvious they don't listen to her. They want to lay her and will appreciate and to her voice when she moans under the sheets.
Outside this nothing matters not even her long professional grammar

It’s crazy. It’s funny. White People are funny.

Read the entire story again and replace the woman with “black man”. That’s the pitiable case of black professionals in the West. The white man is never going to take you serious as a black man even when you know more than he does -except you’ve got another white guy in your team who probably knows next to nothing but he’s there to grant legitimacy to whatever the black professional is saying.

That said. I weep for black feminists. The issue of feminism never included them in the first place but they just feel the need to “tag along” like all black people be doing. In all your feminism, dear black women, do you get paid as much as the white woman in the same field? No! The reason for that is because the black man owns nothing and we all got to “hustle” for any crumbs they let us have.

Hence, the issue above shouldn’t be seen as a struggle for all women rather it should be seen as the problem of the white people/white women. When we are able to sort ourselves as a race and a people, we can start purging issues like this within our own communities governed by our own terms and not western influenced ideas! Peace.
