The Ogun command of the Nigeria customs in the last two weeks made seizure of 38 vehicles, 1,060 bags of foreign rice 50kg each, 158 kegs of vegetable oil (25 liters each), 159 cartons of frozen poultry products, 150 kegs of petrol 25 liters each (auctioned) among others.

The CAC of the Command said that, the quest to adequately secure our borders against economic saboteurs is gaining momentum. Both internal and external mechanisms are deployed to ensure that desperate and battle ever ready smugglers are defeated.

He added that, it is pertinent to reiterate that one of the adverse effects of smuggling on a nation is economic strangulation. Therefore, concerted efforts are strategically designed to ensure that punitive measures will not be limited to seizures of smuggled items, but reinvigorated efforts will be geared towards apprehension and prosecution of smugglers to serve as deterrent to others. The era of abandoned seizure (seizure without accomplice) will soon come to an end.

my concern is what are they used for when seized? this is pure robbery

For every 1,000 Bags of Rice seized; close to 500,000 bags reached its destination....Nigerian Homes!

Customs for Lagos don turn metro police, you see them all over the place.

Forget NNPC or CBN,the Nigerian customs is the most lucrative government agency to work in.So much graft and under the table deals.Little wonder the north will not allow a southerner head it.All these ceased items are for show,the owners no settle well.
