Anambra is already targeting 50k minimum wage while haters are crying all over the place. Obiano inherited a minimum wage of of 18 from his predecessor but he has increased it twice since he took over. The lowest paid civil servant in Anambra takes a minimum wage of ov 22k. Anambra is on overdrive. No idiot can stop us. Read this: Mr Jerry Nnubia, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Anambra , says that the current minimum wage being earned by workers should be increased to N50,000 monthly from its present N18,000. Blue3k:I'm sure I'll be attacked by hungry public-sector workers reading this, but I think it's a shame Obiano is diverting all that extra revenue to yet more recurrent expenditure on salaries, instead of putting it into education, healthcare, roads, clean water, etc. All Nigerian states (as well as the FG) already have far too many public sector "workers" on their payrolls, most of whom do little "work" other than gossiping, sleeping on the job, soliciting bribes and so on - assuming they even show up at their places of "work" in the first place. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Stop spewing rubbish. Obi started off with 18k minimum wage and Obiano inherited and has improved beyond that. Read the report i posted up there and cure your ignorance. Your mischievous attempt to dent Anambra has failed. [s] Blue3k:[/s] 2 Likes |

kalu61: Anambra workers demand full implementation: In Anambra State, immediate past government of Peter Obi, instead of implementing the N18.000 minimum wage, just added N10,000 and just recently, the incumbent governor merely effected a15 percent increment to the workers’ salaries which still fell short of the N18.000 minimum wage. ruggedized1: Yawn stop crying it's already on record they didn't. 1 Like |

Stop deceiving yourself. We have seen through your mischievousness. Blue3k: Mr Jerry Nnubia, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Anambra , says that the current minimum wage being earned by workers should be increased to N50,000 monthly from its present N18,000. Nnubia told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Awka, capital of Anambra, that the increment became imperative following the “harsh” economic realities in the country. Nnubia said that the minimum wage was long overdue for an upward review. “At the time we negotiated for a minimum wage of N18, 000, a dollar was exchanging for N140, but a dollar exchanges for between N220 and N240 now. “The cost of living; accommodation, transportation and food items has also gone high, making it difficult for salary earners to take care of their basic needs,” he said. NAN also reports that the Association of Senior Civil Servants last month also demanded a minimum wage of N46, 000 for workers. Its Secretary-General, Mr. Bashir Lawal, in Lagos State, said that the existing N18, 000 minimum wage could not meet the socio-economic demands of workers. According to Nnubia, the Federal Government’s fight against corruption will further help to improve the economy. He urged the Federal Government to review its housing policy for workers, noting that civil servants had not benefitted from the existing housing scheme despite their monthly contributions to the scheme. “The current contributions of workers to the national housing scheme should be made to work,” he said. He commended Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra for his positive dispositions towards workers’ welfare, but noted that more still needed to be done in the state. “Anambra workers are full of expectations that Obiano will put smiles on their faces by fulfilling his promises of increasing salaries,” the unionist said. http://www.naijaurban.com/nlc-chairman-wants-minimum-wage-increased-to-n50000/ http://freedomonline.com.ng/nlc-chairman-wants-minimum-wage-increased-to-n50000-monthly/ 2 Likes |

You guys cry a lot. Your linking linking nonsense to cover up last lie. Ok cool NLC chairman demands are laws now. ruggedized1: Oh well we both know nobody cares about that stuff. The new debate is How much to raise the minimum wage now. The only thing that blows my mind is when people justify not paying pensioners say they didn't work anyway. Yet somehow they were never fired. He already does a goid job from all indices I've seen about sbout relatively. I justify this since he promised it in his campaign. I think the fire service would be good start. I noticed a few stories where burns building by market. omohayek: 1 Like |

kalu61: I showed you they didn't but your still crying oh well. I can't help you. The record is their and his own words gave it away. Anambra State workers would from July this year begin to earn a new minimum wage. Do you guys even know when and what amount NASS is raising minimum wage. You guys wouldn't need to wait to begin with. You'll just raise retroactively it to stay in compliance with national laws. 1 Like |

Blue3k:FG has little or no say on state government payment structure. Why didn't all the States comply when FG approved 18k. State can pay 100k I'd they like, it's their budget. There is separation of power on certain national issue or are you saying FG will force state to comply with new negotiating minimum wage? 2 Likes |

Read Obiano statement. He held off implement new wage waiting for new FG minimum wage. Why states like Anambra didn't comply with 18k minimum wage is because they couldn't afford it. The federal government lazy about enforcing laws. Setting Minimum wage is constutionally constitutionally in exclusive list federal government. I don't know where your pulling your baseless claims about separation of powers. Yes states can pay over minimum wage. It's called minimum wage for a reason. Obvious point. is obvious. 1999 Constution Second Schedule Legislative Powers Part I Exclusive Legislative List kalu61: 1 Like |
