The Nigeria Customs Service has released the list of all approved check points across the country and documents required for various types of goods at the check- points.
It will be recalled that the Comptroller-General of Customs, Hameed Ali recently directed the dismantling of all illegal check-points beyond 40km radius of the land borders.
Customs Public Relations Officer, Joseph Attah in a statement posted on the Customs website at the weekend said the move was in line with the executive order on the ease of doing business.
He advised stakeholders to note the checkpoints especially the requirements to avoid unnecessary delays.
“Nigeria Customs Service relationship with members of the business community and indeed travelling public is sometimes frosty, arising from either lack of knowledge or appreciation of the crucial role of the Service to national security and economic well-being. Hence the Service wishes to make public the list of approved Customs check-points and what is required from stakeholders at such check-points to avoid unnecessary delay,” the statement said.
The approved checkpoints are Lagos Agbara-Gbaji along Lagos Seme Express way; Ogun Ajilete- Ihumbo,Ayetoro and Atan along Idiroko-Lagos road; Oyo Igbeti; Edo Benin Toll gate, Ewu Junction; Anambra Onitsha head bridge; Borno/Yobe Damasak-Dikwa, Duji; Akwa-Ibom/Cross-River- Uya-Oro, Ikom, Urua, Akpa Junction and Katsina Agangaro,Shoroka.
Others are: Adamawa/Taraba Baisa- Mang, Ngoroje, Kanyaka , Gembu-Cameroun Road, Gembu-Jalingo, Gembu-Cameroun Road; Kano/Jigawa Maigatari-Babura/Turare, Achilafia, Daura Road; Niger Luma and Sokoto Gurbin Banre- Mamman Suka, Tangaza.

Please pardon my questions, the jobs don't really seem desirable to me except for the "higher ups" who get to run shady deals. Is there anything great about them that you might want to share? Or are you just passionate about enforcing safety laws?
